Welcome To My New Bad Habit

Eli didn’t know where they would’ve gotten it either. On one hand the question of it intrigued him, mainly because the idea of having a pet to take care of in the Fog appealed to him, but on the other hand it seemed like a question he didn’t want the answer to. What if the poor thing was trapped in its own hell like the rest of them? What if it didn’t even exist? Like it was just an illusion crafted to make him miss his home.

He decided to ignore it for now. “Specimens, huh? Did you do any research involving snakes?” he asked, allowing the snake to move from one arm to the other. At least it seemed to feel fairly comfortable in his arms, which was always a bonus when it came to snakes.

As soon as it becomes clear Eli will not be attempting to give it back he allows his arm to fall back down to his side. "Yes," He says in answer to the other man's question. "When I worked for Umbrella there were several reptile specimen living inside of their labs. Including a few snakes."

He pauses, vaguely able to recall that period of his life now. it feels so far away. Like a dot in the rearview mirror by now.

"They were local species that were caught in the area around the lab I assume. I personally was never part of the process of collecting them. Just overseeing their daily needs and observing any changes or adjustments."

“I don’t suppose you got attached to any of them,” he replied, leaning back on the rail. The snake was crawling idly up his arms with the steady movement of an animal that wasn’t trying to get anywhere fast.

He didn’t expect the scientist would’ve let himself grow fond of any of the specimens, but he figured he would ask anyway. “Ever gave them any names? Or were they just like ‘specimen 82’ or whatever.”

Eli was never particularly good at science class, and even if he was he didn’t get a chance to really pursue any field, but he remembered enjoying the biology lectures and labs. Part of him felt for the critters used in experiments. He knew what it was like to feel like just another number in a system that didn’t care for him.

"Yes, I am aware. I have handled specimens similar to that one many times before."

Mutely he watches the creature once it has been transferred over. The swamp is indeed a better choice, but he is willing to accept any alternative to having is slithering around here. "I worked for a brief period of time in a laboratory that was secluded and in an area with wild specimens. Not quite like that one but similar. Rat snakes and rattlers mostly."

Of course he'd never seen more than a few in the whole time that he'd spent in the area. "I am not certain where the individual who gave that one to me managed to find it. I was under the assumption that the only living creatures here in The Fog besides the survivors and killers were the crows."

“Oh hey, a swamp snake. We had a lot of those back home.” Eli is watching from a stairwell outside of RPD as Wesker walks out, clearly on his way to sneak inside the building. Or just walk in, really. He’s not being particularly sneaky about it. “Mind if I take a look at him before you let ‘im go?”

Wesker stops mid stride when he hears a voice call out, and his entire body sharply turns to face the other face. There's a brief instance where his jaw seems to clench. Likely because he is agitated by both the interruption and the fact that Eli has clearly been hiding inside of his realm. "Scavenging in the middle of the day - you're either bold or desperate to get thrown from the upper balcony."

Still, he does hold out the hand that the creature is lazily wrapped around. Offering it to him with a nonchalance that makes it quite obvious he is at least used to handling creatures of this caliber. They're not unlike the size and shape of Uroboros when it is summoned. Though those don't have the capacity to bite.

"There are woods near the campfire are there not? Once you're done looking at it, set it free there. I doubt it would enjoy crawling around the hardwood floors of the Raccoon City Police Department."

Eli took the snake with equally practiced ease, a genuine smile on his face. “Yeah, sure. Could probably take it to that swamp realm too, since it’s closer to its preferred habitat.” His eyes were focused on the snake as it coiled around his arm and settled into something like a resting position.

“These little guys are great,” he said, clearly not ready to leave on his own yet. “They’re non-venomous. They don’t even bite, really. They’re more likely to to bolt off or musk on you if they’re scared.” He ran his fingers gently over the snake’s scales, admiring it fondly.

Eli hissed as the knife bit into him, holding his arm and backing up again. The killer made a fair point. None of this really made all that much sense, but if Eli took too long to think about it his mind would break trying to process the craziness.

So instead, he decided to pick at the threads. “Silent Hill,” he said, wiping his own blood off on his jeans. “It’s not an ‘elementary school from hell’, it’s from Silent Hill.” He admittedly didn’t have a good explanation for why aspects of one of his favorite horror franchises were in this… whatever it was, but the distinction was important to him regardless.

Okay, maybe stopping to play during a trial was a bit of a dumb idea, but when else was he going to stumble across a half decent drumset in the fog?

The sound of the percussion beat for House of Wolves by MCR can be heard through several walls from the music room of Midwich Elementary school.

Damn. If he had a guitar... Well he couldn't really play it but he kinda wished he could. That was a *sick* drum solo. He does take the time to do some air-guitar though, dancing along in a little stage shuffle-hop into the room where the punk was playing.

Right until he got in lunging range and out came the knife. Better dodge fast, motherfucker.

It was all too easy for Eli to lose himself in the music, especially when he’d gone so long without it. Maybe if he could find an mp3 player somewhere…

In any case, he didn’t notice the killer creeping up on him until the last minute. There was a flash of movement from behind him that caught his attention and he let out a yelp that accompanied the crashing of sticks against drums as he darted out of the seat. Somehow he got away with only a scratch, but it was deep enough to leave behind a solid trail of blood as he booked it back out into the halls.

Quick, quick. His stealthy approach was rumbled now so he had to rely on his speed and agility to keep up with the quarry. Feet light, back lowered- the guy may know from the pounding of his heart that Daniel was around, but no need to leave any clues.

The future darted into a classroom, and he chose not to follow, keeping to the hall. The next door was a false one, but the walls had a hole that survivors loved to leap through, so the man should pop out riiiight about... here.

He was certainly right about that one. Not a moment later Eli came vaulting through the hole and—

WHACK!

His boot hit Ghostie square in the mask with a solid crack as he launched through. The impact was enough to shock him, sending him sprawling on the ground for a moment as he processed what just happened.

*Fuck*

Last thing he saw was the bottom of a boot and next he was on the ground with a ringing in his ears and an ache all along his spine. He shook his head like a dog and had to press a hand to his mask to put it back in place. Oh hey. He hadn't noticed in the initial shock but his nose was bleeding too. Huh. What an annoyance, he wouldn't be able to properly wipe it away.

"You made me bleed my own blood!" He quipped in shock at the downed drummer, always falling back on stupid movie quotes when he didn't know what else to say.

Eli didn’t get the reference, though it seemed goofy enough to be somewhat familiar. An old meme maybe? Whatever.

He got to his feet and gave himself a good few feet between him and the killer before considering his options. He could keep running, try and lure the killer away from the others. Or he could indulge this guy’s reference for whatever reason—

Wait. He’s bleeding?

It finally clicked with him what Ghostface actually said. Could he actually damage the killer?

Deciding to test it out, Eli threw a solid punch as the mask.

Motherfucker!!!

None of the Killers were really Invulnerable. They were all just fuckoff strong or strange or magical. Honestly it wasn't fair when he was just a little guy! A normal man! Just a dude!

So when the punch lands it doesn't meet with ghostly matter or weird inky crow feathers or whatever the fuck Blight has going on. Just plastic being shoved back into soft human meat, knocking the masked man back a half-step.

"Oh come on!" The way he reels back and gestures roughly skyward is almost cartoonish, but the way he readjusts his grip on his knife and lashes back out is pure rage.

Right. Ghostface was just a guy with a knife. And Eli was just a guy who’d been in his fair share of knife fights.

Acting on instinct he just managed to dodge the swing, backing up a few steps to stay just out of range. He knew better than to try to fistfight someone with a knife, but he had a lot more confidence in his survival chances now.

“You’re kinda goofy for a killer. You sure you got your head on straight?” Eli wanted the mask. He wanted to see what this bastard looked like underneath it. If he could just get past the blade…

Eli lunged forward, reaching for that white plastic mask.

Another trial at the school. This time he knew better than to take a drum break, even though he could feel his hands itching for it. He’d have to find the place between trials sometime… maybe whenever Pyramid Head wasn’t around.

In the meantime, he needed to get his bearings. The place was a maze even when he wasn’t being chased down by stab-happy murderers.

It wasn’t long before he found a generator to settle down at and work on. So far so good… but he had a feeling this was gonna be a weird one.

A fit of laughter in the distance. The soft tink of something hitting one of the many rust covered spots in the realm. A yell that quickly turns into a gurgling noise, and rushed footsteps. A survivor runs by the classroom Eli is residing in, their movements sluggish and uncoordinated like their legs had fallen asleep or they'd received a good hit to the head. Something was sticking out of their back, two things. Sticks?

Two more similarly shaped objects flew past the doorway and hit their mark by the sound of the body slamming into the floor without even a scream, just a messy gurgle of noise that sputtered into silence. "It takes some getting used to baby, but I'm sure if we keep this up you'll adjust..." A figure slowly steps into view of the doorway, dragging a sledgehammer behind himself and making a harsh noise while doing so.

Eli sees the prolific fashion icon Milo Royals walk on by to the survivor currently frozen on the ground and snap his fingers in front of their face, getting no response. "Well that's a shame. Means I gotta actually do my job." They're hoisted up and thrown onto a nearby hook, which causes them to finally move again, screaming and sputtering like they woke up from a bad dream. "Where are your friends doll?"

.... No response from the hooked survivor besides a terrified stare back. Milo huffs and begins to walk back down the hall, right beside Eli's gen. Humming to himself.

Oh this poor thing is struggling so much, it's adorable, and Milo is tempted to eat him up then and there. The scent of crimson is overwhelming and the sledgehammer is set aside in favor of the killer kneeling down and cupping Eli's cheek. "Oh honey, are you new here too? It didn't take me long to figure out a lot of this stuff... It wants you dead, baby, and I'm here to help it out."

It was like trying to reason with an animal that had been hit by a car, dazed and confused and looking at him so softly with accusations in his eyes. If his heart cared, he's sure it would bleed tears over this pathetic image. But right now he's fixated, his thumb brushing over Eli's lips and smearing blood.

But then his thumb opened the other's mouth, curious and feeling something jump in his chest. There's the blood, of course... But a strange mark on the other's tongue. A sort of tattoo? The aesthetics of the survivor certainly make that a possibility, but... His thumb runs over the mark and he purrs.

"You poor, beautiful thing..." His mouth waters.

The world is spinning. Eli struggles to stay focused, between the drugs in his system fucking with his senses and the head trauma knocking his brain off-kilter. He can barely make out most of what the killer is saying, but bits and pieces stand out to him.

It wants you dead, baby.

The room is dark, the only light coming from the pulsing bulb of a generator nearby. It makes the shadows look like they’re moving, creeping towards him ominously.

I’m here to help it out.

There’s a hand on his face, colder than he thinks a human hand should be, but the wetness the thumb drags over his lip is thick and warm. More pennies.

Before he can react the thumb pushes its way into his mouth, jamming his jaw open as the killer looks inside. Eli makes a noise of alarm and offense, knocking his head back against the wall in a failed attempt to get away.

He tastes salt and blood as the killer’s thumb drags over something on his tongue. It hurts, like touching something that had been burned, and Eli gags from the automatic attempt to pull the muscle away from the digit.

You poor, beautiful thing…

The words are clearer now, and Eli has just enough sense to know that this invasion of his personal space is pissing him the hell off. In a moment of fury, he does the one thing cornered animals do best.

He bites down. Hard.

A forked tongue runs over his own teeth as he leans in close, the temptation to tear through Eli's skin almost becomes overwhelming until a sharp pain rockets through his arm and Milo yelps out in shock. He wasn't paying attention, too fixated in the moment to remember that these drugs wore off faster in this place. During trials especially.

"You motherfucker-" A hiss as he tries to wrench his hand away to no avail, before just straight up socking Eli in the face in an attempt to get the man to release his fingers. Hopefully that releases his jaw, and if not Milo is more than willing to kick him in the mouth until he has no choice but to back off. Regardless, the hand is freed, bloody but the fingers are intact. They're flexed and another pained hiss fills the air and he gets to his feet.

"You've got quite a mouth on you baby, but you're a little too bitey for my tastes. I didn't think to bring a gag, but I'll remember that for next time." A soft chuckle follows as Eli is then picked up roughly, pulled over to the hook and slammed onto it haphazardly. Milo nearly misses the shoulder, threatening to pierce through Eli's lung.

The effects of the toxins are almost immediately washed away by the burning pain of the hook, leaving Eli feeling a bit hungover in the aftermath. Milo pats his leg. "Good luck buttercup, I'm gonna find one of those medkits and you'd best stay out of my sights." A wink, a giggle, and he's grabbed his sledgehammer and walks off.

The other survivors have gotten a generator done in the meantime and seem to be going for the rescue as Milo turns the corner and vanishes into Midwich.

Eli has definitely taken his fair share of punches, but the brass knuckles on the killer’s hand hurt and his jaw is open again before he can even register the pain. The gag comment is noted somewhere in the back of his mind as he’s carried to the hook. It makes his face blush, as if he isn’t already losing enough blood as it is.

The sobering aspect of the hook wasn’t much better than the pain itself. His blood pounded in his head and he squinted at the lights as one of the other survivors got him down and started patching him up. Eli’s head was clear now. He could make rational decisions.

Whether he would was another matter entirely.

“I’m gonna run him,” he said, not waiting for the others to agree. He was one hook down but he knew what he was up against now. And he wanted nothing more than to piss this guy off.

The other survivors went to find another generator while Eli moved down the halls, listening for the killer and trying to track him down. It wasn’t hard, given how little the guy seemed to care about stealth.

Eli smirked as he rounded the corner at a sprint, actively shoulder checking the killer as he ran past. “Coming through!”

"In the same way, as when you're called for a trial. You will sense the pull, and unless you try and resist it, you will be brought to my realm. Or any other place I may reside in at the time of the call." Because there were multiple locations the Bastard could be in. Especially when he had two homes. But he wouldn't bring Eli to Gideon. That was Amanda's sacred space reserved only for her closest.

"Oh, are you expecting something specific?" The Entity grinned, showing off an extra set of fangs. Normally, he wouldn't have revealed his ability to access another's mind. Or at least he wouldn't do so right at the start. But the opportunity was too tempting to resist. Because he wanted to know how Eli would respond. He had already showed interest in the Bastard. Will he try and claim that he had no attraction? Would his face turn that lovely red? Or perhaps he'd respond in a different way altogether? Bass just had to know.

"You are such an adorable treat, I hope you are aware. Stop tempting me, darling."

The realization hit him in waves. The first wave was shock, confusion, and disbelief all rolled together, followed almost immediately by a heavy blush overtaking his face.

However, it wasn’t long before the stunned expression on his face formed into an excited grin. “Sorry, Master, I’m just not used to getting picked up by such attractive men~.”

He didn’t even try to hide the lust on his mind this time. After all, he couldn’t stop himself from having the thoughts, so why not make a game of it? The Entity had a right to know exactly what he was getting into, anyway.

At least, that was what he told himself. Maybe he just wanted an excuse to flirt.

Oh how delightful his new mortal was. Accepting Eli was such a risk, considering he had no idea what he was taking on. It was so rare for the Entity to accept someone, whose skills he was unaware of. Especially when he took on Eli in the form of a dog. Only now, after the agreement was made, could he see the human side of the mortal.

And he was pleased with what he saw.

That gentle blush was delightful, and it made the Bastard want to see more of it. But he had to maintain little steps at a time. He couldn't rush this. And Eli still had his questions, that as a new owner the Entity should respond to.

"Yes, I am your Entity," he nodded, but took a pause. He needed to work out the right words for the next part. "You will still be expected to enter trials, just not as often as you had before. In exchange, you may spend more time in the dog form that you seem to be so entertained by."

Now perhaps he should think over the specific rules. Because it would not be beneficial to either side to not state them and then be upset when Eli does something against the Entity's wishes. Only one of the two was a mind reader, after all.

"You will be allowed a room when you prove your worth in trials. Outside of the trials, you may spend your time doing what you please. However, if I call for you, I will expect you to arrive without making any excuses."

It was only at that point that the Entity remembered he should probably talk to his partners about adopting a family dog. They might consider it strange, and he did not wish to do anything behind their backs. Oh well, worst case scenario it would just mean that Eli would get a lot of free time to explore the realms and mess with other inhabitants.
