In Millennium, after Mulder and Scully kiss, I know Mulder says, "the world didn't end" because of the superstition surrounding the year 2000. However, I also like to think that Mulder was worried. He had imagined their kiss over and over in his head, sorting through the possibilities for the aftermath. What if (despite all evidence otherwise) Scully didn't feel the same? What if it shifted their dynamic? What if she didn't want to work with him afterward? To Mulder, that would be the end of the world. But at some point in their kiss, he realized, of course, Scully felt the same. So when Mulder says, "the world didn't end," I like to think he's saying, "I love you."
