I've talked before about how I think the knight is a shadow crystal made when Dess no clipped into the lake. I feel like the issue with the idea is that it has the same thematic flaw as "amalgam knight" theory: the contradiction of prophecy. the knight's whole thing is bringing about the prophecy, that's its "reaction" to it. the implication with Dess knight the way I understand it would mean that Dess tried to "die by lake" and no clipped into the wherever ch7 side b is*. <- that whole thing is the antithesis of the knight. bringing about fate vs succumbing to despair in the face of it. I like the explanation of what the knight is here, but I don't like where it leaves Dess in all this. ykwim?
*(that could explain the unused code, Dess in what she thinks is the afterlife thinking her thoughts, ig)
so, are we calling it "SIDE B" now? that seems to be what the game is calling it, and this wouldn't be the first time the fandom has changed what we call this thing.
the binocular Rudinn from ch3 says "I'M TRYING TO SEE AS FAR AS I CAN, BUT IT DOSEN'T LOOK TOO GOOD." then moves so you can see what it's looking at. it's some kind of greyscale gaster world (Nowhere?) then interacting with it again gives "TALK ABOUT LOUSY REAL ESTATE ... I SENSE NOTHING BUT EVIL FROM THAT PLACE!"
spamton on the weird route says that "YOU LOST IT WHEN YOU TRIED TO SEE TOO FAR..."
I'm completely convinced that we're heading to Nowhere at least on the weird route and might kill gaster after softlocking ourselves.

all I ask is that we see an uptake in Deltarune horror art. it doesn't even need to be abt the weird route. I want to see art that makes me physically shiver. more ideas and concepts taken to their logical extreme. horror and comedy are two genres that are much closer than you'd think. toby shows well enough that the same idea can be beautiful in one timeline and terrifying in another.
someone mentioned that the song flashback (excerpt) is basically just gasters motif, very interesting to me then that a fractured version of it is used before the ch5 drowning segment
