one thing in Scream (1996) that is probably so obvious but that i absolutely LOVE is when billy is listing off horror villains to justify himself not having a motive to kill people and the characters he uses, do in fact, have motives. “did norman bates have a motive?” YES!! “did they ever decide why hannibal lecter liked to eat people?” YES THEY DID!!! and it just ties in so perfectly with how he tries to play himself off as not having a motive at first and saying it makes things scarier and also just goes to show that he didn’t really understand these movies he was using as justification as much as he thought he did
