Cherimoya and Growing Power
I just spent $8 on ONE cherimoya because i thought it'd be great to try new things which i've been doing lately. and it was TOTALLY UNRIPE it was sour and gross and hard and dry. none of the reviews i've seen say that it's hard and dry. i fucked up.
On the bright side, i tried Pete's Fruit Market in Milwaukee and i LOVED it. there was SO much more variety than the Metro Market or Pick N Save or Aldi or even Whole Foods or Outpost. There was definitely more volume and variety and it was less expensive, but not much.
in other news, i bought a bag of organic, locally grown produce for $27 through an organization called Growing Power here in Milwaukee, WI. it was AMAZING experience. It was a bit more expensive going to my local main-stream grocery store, but i'd definitely buy from growing power again. it is a wonderful cause, so easy, and really it's cheap because for $27 i got (and everything was organic and locally grown) a whole pineapple, TONS of greens (like at least 8 pounds of greens like spring mix, sprouts, red leaf, cilantro, spinach), potatoes, onions, pears, zucchini, and squash. But, the bags will change every week due to what is ready to be harvested, so it's like a "grab bag".
i'm totally broke though so i'm mad about that cherimoya fuck up. totally pissed at myself for eating it unripe.
