Doing research for a story, I ended up reading several articles about McMurdo Station, Antarctica. One of the things I learned is that the station galley staff either import groceries from the States or from New Zealand. This factoid was quickly followed by a peek at the Justerini & Briggs wiki, which establishes that J&B entered the Asian market through Hong Kong in 1976. So if MacReady didn’t bring a case of whisky himself, that bottle of J&B was probably shipped from Hong Kong.
