And I keep seeing them used as reactions to each other. You get away from one and fall into the other.

As soon as Mr. Munson was out of earshot, Eddie’s playful demeanor dropped, his grip on Steve tightening.

“Shit, man, don't leave me hanging here, the suspense is killing me,” Eddie's foot started to tap, his fingers fiddling with rings that weren't there. All the usual signs that said he really was nervous. “So…what'd my uncle say to you?”

Fortunately, Steve could put his mind at ease. 

“Nothing, really,” he shrugged. “All he told me was to…I don’t know, keep being myself? Not, like, change for anybody else. You know, just typical kinda dad stuff.”

Not that Steve was totally sure what the usual dad advice looked like, not really. He couldn’t remember his dad ever really being encouraging in the way Mr. Munson had just been. 

“But I told him not to worry about it. You’re always just…authentically you, yeah? It’s not like you’re gonna wake up one day and decide to change to impress or, like, please anybody else, so.” 

To his surprise, Eddie blushed, turning Steve’s cheeks bright pink.

“Meddling old man,” he muttered lowly. 

“Nah, man, no way. Honestly, I thought it was…pretty cool of him. My dad would probably do a back flip if only I would change, you know?”

Eddie turned sad, doe eyes on him–could they even get that big when Steve was the one in there?–looking like Steve had kicked a puppy in front of him.

“Christ, sweetheart, everything I hear about your dad–the guy sounds like such a dickhead, man.”

We need to do the same level of "abandon this completely" to neil gaiman as we did (and should continue to do) to jkr. Im serious. If i catch you buying more sandman comics or a different good omens copy you dont need or more of the graveyard book or coraline i will lose it. The man is a rapist. Full stop, all caps RAPIST. He doesnt deserve more money. The pratchett estate wont die out if u stop buying good omens. Theres plenty of authors who probably write leagues better than him and arent evil predators. He needs to die penniless and obscure.
