Casino night at the College of Wooster!
COLLEGE OF WOOSTER:
Another great day has come to an end here at the College of Wooster! In order to beat the rain, we started up singles instruction right at 9AM this morning as we introduced the idea of zone tennis in which we split the court into three areas: the defensive zone, control zone and the offensive zone. We will continue to focus on zone tennis as the week goes on and hopefully many of the campers will begin to incorporate it into their game long after they leave camp. Unfortunately during the zone tennis demonstration, Coach Erik decided that the entire court was the offensive zone. As you can imagine, the demonstration turned out poorly for Erik and for all of those who had to witness it.
In addition, we continued our College Cup Tournament with many of the matches coming down to the wire--winners of the College Cup will have some cool prizes coming at the awards ceremony. With some heavy rain coming in the late afternoon, we were fortunate enough to move right inside and not miss a beat of the College Cup Tournament. We have defeated Mother Nature yet again.
We ended today’s camp with the always popular casino night at The Underground on campus. Games included poker, black jack, uno, roulette, dice, mini tennis and many others. Many lucky campers who stacked their chips high went home with some nice Wilson gear and an array of different snacks. I saw one of the boxes of Dots missing--Coach Andrew is the prime suspect in the crime. After Casino Night, we headed back to the dorm lounge for the day’s main event...the reading of the 8AM matches by Coach James. The 8AM match readings have gotten more elaborate as the camp has gone on and i’m sure he’ll have something special in store for the final reading tomorrow night. Looking forward to another great day of tennis starting bright and early!
