I don’t understand your point.

Calling it the slave trade but not directly linking it reflects the idea that the concepts they will be teaching wont actually tell students that they were brought over as slaves. 

The French Indian War is called that to make it seem like a conflict between France and Native Americans in the early colonial years of America, when you cover that information in a middle school class they don’t tell students why an event is called what it is and they can easily maneuver the sticky bits and avoid the more intense parts of history. 

I dont really get what you’re trying to say but the way a story is framed has a huge impact on how it is received especially if you are a middle schooler. So please elaborate on this point more because I don’t want to assume anything about what you are trying to say.

okay i’ve gotten a lot of messages about this one so let me break it down. 

neurotypical means someone who isn’t mentally ill 

neurodivergent or neuroatypical means mentally ill 

the whole “you gotta” meme was coined by neurodivergents and neuroatypicals to kinda poke fun at the struggles mentally ill people face daily with irrational thoughts, paranoia, and depression and anxiety. it was something the mentally ill community created and suddenly there were a lot of neurotypicals trying hard to use something we were using to express ourselves and explain our irrationality with to be relatable haha

i have no problem with it, personally!! it’s just a little silly to see all the irrational thoughts that people who have mental illnesses and personality disorders face mixed in with things like “you gotta listen to the new atl album” haha 

neurotypical isn’t a hateful word or anything!! it’s just used to separate non-mentally ill people from those of us with mental illness. we’re just saying it’s a different life and that’s being exemplified by the vast differences in the neurotypical “you gotta” memes and the neurodivergent and neuroatypical ones!!
