The Beatles at The Royal Hall, Ripon Road, Harrogate on 8th March 1963.
“I played in one of the support bands when the Beatles played Royal Hall, Harrogate on Friday, 8th march 1963. I was lead guitar in Ricky Fenton and The Apaches. After meeting the guys and listening to their fantastic beat we new they were different and were going to be huge! I spent some time chatting to John and Paul about their unusual guitars and my Dad - who was our manager - actually swore at Paul when he tripped over some of our gear!!! Paul came back straight away and apologised!!! They showed up in an old yellow van and all helped to off load their gear. They looked quite different to any other muso's we had seen-quite long hair for that time (although not really long - but just for those times!!!) They had leather coats on and looked like French art students!! It was a fantastic night that I will remember for ever.” [Bob Mason of Ricky Fenton and The Apaches, Magical Memory Tour]
