— since the 8th degree is ruled by scorpion energy, it mystifies and makes whatever it touches secretive. even the most outgoing signs can be more reserved and not as trusting. it's like you don't really know them or the elements of the house/planet it touches.

— however, this energy is captivating as well. it can draw others to you to attempt to try to dig into the deeper levels of you. or it can draw others away from you as well.

— this degree can also make you keen to details or notice things that other may not regarding your placement due to the detective and investigative nature of scorpio.

— this can make whatever this degree touches intimidating and "darken" the effects of it as well, but also passionate.

— this is also a transformation degree symbolizing that whatever it touches will go through a powerful rebirth or transformation.

— because scorpio energy deals with the aspect of power & success. this can make the house/planet more powerful or stand out in the native's chart. it gives the vibes of "all or nothing" however, it can also bring jealousy from those around you like hidden enemies.

— money, recognition, and/or power may be very important for you for whatever this degree touches

— due to the intense nature of scorpio, this can make the energy of the placement intense as well because of the effect of scorpio.

Let’s talk degrees: Part 1

(Note: This post doesn’t explain degrees, it simply tells you a way to use them. Also, you must use the equal house system for this to work.)

Calculating true degrees: Say your sun was in 24 degrees, 4th house, and your 4th house started at 27 degrees. Since each house is 30 degrees, you need to make the house degrees into 30 (ex. 27+3=30). You then take away the number you added to the house degrees from the suns degrees to create the new house degrees (ex. 24-3=21). Now, you add the sun degrees and the new house degrees together (ex. 21+24=45). If the new degree is more than 29, take away thirty to find true degree. Otherwise, keep it the same.

What they mean:

0: (Straightforwardness) This one means that the planet isn’t very complex and it’s fairly straightforward. In other words, any planet in 0 degrees isn’t going to have any twists and turns for you. However, this could be bad, as if you struggle in that area in life, it probably won’t get any better for you. Having no planets in this degree means that you are complex and have many personalities. This degree isn’t ruled by any sign and just strengthens the sign of the planet.

1: (Physical strength) Here’s a positive degree. This placement shows straightforwardness and strength, especially in physical fields such as sports. I’ve never really seen any negative traits in any planets in the 1st degree. Having no planets in 1st degrees means that you may not be the most athletic. This degree is ruled by Aries.

2: (Power and perfection) This is a very positive placement for any planet. In fact, any planet in the 2nd degree in the 2nd degree will make the person be almost perfect in that field of life. People with their AC, DC, MC or IC in the 2nd degree tend to do great things. Having no planets in this degree means that you might not make the most impact on the world. This degree is ruled by Taurus.

3: (Communication) This degree is associated with communication and talking to people. Any planets in the 3rd degree tend to be fields that you talk about a lot. Having no planets in this degree means that you don’t have a very active social life. This degree is typically neutral and is ruled by the sign Gemini.

4: (Home and family) This degree is all about what you call your home. Any planets in this sign are parts of your memories that you still feel deeply. Planets in this degree can also give hints about your childhood. Having no planets in this degree means that your childhood was typical. This degree can be good or bad, depending on the planets that are in it, and is ruled by Cancer.

5: (Fun) This degree is a very FUN (get it? get it?) to have in your chart, as any planets in the 5th degree show something that you have a lot of fun with. This is probably one of the best degrees. Having no planets in this degree means you may be a more serious person. This degree is ruled by the Leo.

6: (Health) Any planets in this degree can indicate something about your health. If you have a planet in the 6th degree, figure out what sign rules that planet, as that can show the area that you may have health problems in. Having no planets in this degree means you are fairly healthy. This degree is typically bad and is ruled by the sign Virgo.

7: (Psychic related things) This is one of my favorite degrees, as it rules all things psychic. Any planet in this degree is automatically mystical and having many planets in this degree may mean you have a very strong intuition. Having no planets in this degree may mean you don’t care much for mystical stuff. This degree is typically neutral and is ruled by Libra.

8: (Justice, mysteries and possibly crime) This degree is an interesting one. I don’t even know how to describe it, because of how crazy it is, but I’ll try. Basically, any planet in the 8th degree is a mystery to you. Having no planets in this degree means your life will be fairly straightforward. You’ll have lots of twists and turns in those areas. This degree is very bad and is ruled by Scorpio.

9: (Travel) This degree is basically travel and new places. Having planets in this degree may mean you have to explore those areas of life. Having no planets in this degree means that your life may not have that many adventures. This degree can be good or bad and is ruled by Sagittarius.

Jupiter in Scorpio, as with any Scorpio placement, lends a magnetism and power, but with the added luck of Jupiter, it means you're likely to be successful with any sort of project or plan you're a part of or come up with. You're very good at harnessing and focusing your emotions and intellect to get shit done.

Having Jupiter in the 8th House also means you're willing to work hard to get what you want, and you're a very loyal partner, friend and coworker. The 8th House has a lot to do with money, especially other people's money, so in addition, you could receive a monetary inheritance at some point (or you already have), or stand to inherit property from a family member.

The 8th degree is a Scorpio/Water degree, so all the qualities of Scorpio will be magnified here -- the magnetic personality and powerful nature that I mentioned before.

Hiya, the 8th degree is a scorpio degree, and degrees will embody the energies of the ruling sign. 8th degree will also embody some of the 8th house which is also ruled by scorpio. Having libra rising may mean your aesthetic may consist of some darker shades, black, red, blue, while looking chic. Others may feel you’re private a bit or intimidating but nice and friendly.

Having your gemini venus in the 8th degree could mean that you look for someone who is personal, private, and understands you in deeper levels. Gemini venuses prefer to start friendship before developing romantic interests or prefer to talk to get to know them. Having ur venus in 8th can result in u looking for someone who you can understand at an emotional level, discussing personal stuff and feeling comfortable with that.

Having cancer mc in 8th degree, first with a cancer mc (midheaven) you may be interested in career fields that allows you to use your intuition and work with others emotional feelings. I notice my friends with cancer mc are often doing activities that are working with others like their friends or things where they can connect their intuition and empathy with others.

For instance, my friend loves to do activities with her friends and she has her cancer mc in an aries degree, those activities are mostly active ones such as swimming, badminton, or requires physical stimulation.

Degree theory is so interesting! I don’t have any scorpio placements other than Chiron but have always related to the archetype and attract scorpios into my life like bugs and honey..it covers my third and fourth house too but I discovered I have moon and venus at 8 degrees. There are a lot of negative associations with this degree (death) so at first I was fearful, but death can mean a lot of things. Do you have any interpretations of this degree for those placements?

ehhhh i wouldnt take that so seriously. scorpio is death through transformation. like a reptile shedding skin, that sort of death. scorpio is also the sign of rebirth ! i think the 8th degree is a very beautiful degree, it gives youthful pluto energy, drastic changes day in and day out for the native who is already accustomed to this lifestyle. they can switch up quite easily and adapt if necessary to further transformation. but yeah my north node is at the 18th degree which is also supposed to be a degree of death and illness but im not dead yet so i wouldnt take that too seriously in the literal sense

uranus is all about innovations, originality, fluctuation, surprise, independence, freedom, technology, the future, large groups or organizations, the public, media, and balance. taurus is down to earth, sensual, artistic, slow, reserved, comfort, values, solid, confident, devoted, hardworking, patient, prosperous, competitive, practical, and stable.
