It's always entertaining to see what different kids boundaries are regarding the same thing; like one of my 8yo brothers has a deal with every aunt and big sister that they can have as many hugs and cuddles as they like but can only give him one cheek or forehead kiss per month (and he is very strict about enforcing that limit) because it's embarrassing, meanwhile my other 8yo brother will sit there in my arms with a soft content smile on his face as I hug the life out of him and pepper his face with hundreds of kisses - designed to embarrass him - leaving lipstick marks all over his cheeks and forehead not even flinching unless I tickle him too, and then my 8yo sister is the kid who growls groans dramatically at being asked for a hug and acts as though physical affection of any kind is torture (unless she's the one initiating it or she's really tired in which case she's the clingiest kid ever, but she will deny it to her grave)

i was babysitting my cousins kids the other night and out of the blue the 8yo asks me “are you gonna get a nose ring?” i’m surprised for a minute but i tell that yes i want one. then she tells me that i should get one “here” *she gestures to her septum* so basically i just received piercing advice from an 8yo

Wisdom of an 8yo

My 8yo is back with his infinite wisdom lol I gave a very brief description of the holocaust (“Hitler rounded up political opponents and those who were gay and Jewish people and put them into camps where they were worked and starved to death” {I’m aware there were others also sent to concentration camps but those are three groups he can recognize and understand at the moment}) .. he responded by saying he was like Mike Pence. I’m not kidding. His response was “like the Stink Bug in Marlon Bundo. He was mean to Marlon Bundo because he was gay” .. I mean. I’m not saying Mike Pence is Hitler but .. I’m also not saying that Mike Pence would try and stop the atrocities like the ones currently happening in Chechnya.

Y'all, I have to brag on my daughter. She’s only 8 so her perspective is still developing but she brought me this and said “I don’t know if it was supposed to be but it could be kind of a Pride painting” and after I confirmed for her that “Pride” is about LGBTQ+ she told us “I really admire people who just date anybody because they think they’re nice.”
