Do you have ideas for drinks for the Nine? (Possibly with a few mocktails in the mix? I love fancy drinks but really don’t love the taste of booze.)
Of course! I'm not much of a mixologist, but I can definitely think of a few drinks that I wouldn't mind giving to a priest or putting on an altar! And while there are a few Divines-related drinks across Tamriel, these are a few little originals that stand up to tradition...
In my humble opinion, the Dragon God of Time would be best represented with a Brandy-Mug Farm vintage. I wouldn't hesitate to offer a spot of 18 year old vintage aqua vitae distilled in spriggan wood barrels, with hints of smokey dragon's tongue and frost mirriam. A truly godly drink!
God of cycles and mortals, a drink to Arkay would best be represented by something seasonal. Late autumn apple cider mulled with dried berries, rhubarb, hot chilis and jazbay raisins is the sort of drink that'll see you pass from autumn through winter with nary a chill!
Artful is the first thing you should think when you see a drink dedicated to Dibella. I imagine a tall berry milkshake, layered with whipped cream and soft-baked meringue, and topped with fresh morello cherries, white chocolate chips, and a heart-shaped biscotti. Decadent!
It would only be fitting if Julianos' beverage was something a little magical! I recall a beautiful cocktail in Wayrest called the Luna Moth, which shone a pale blue (due to diluted nirnroot extract) and gave off a short illusion of luna moths flying out of the glass from hazelnut-scented smoke! If memory serves, it was a herbal blend of blue mountain flowers, lime, and vanilla, with an optional splash of vanilla liquer.
You'll be overcome by the freshness of the heavens and wind with by combining elderflower nectar and birch liqueur with breezy sparkling water. If birch liqueur isn't your thing, birch syrup and a spoon of honey is just as good!
Mother Mara would probably enjoy a nice gentle tisane, made from home-grown ingredients where possible. I would combine dried lavender and fresh rosemary, boiled with a handful of jazybay grapes to give a sweet-tart tang to this mercifully calming hug-in-a-cup.
Steadfast as Stendarr himself, nothing beats a good cup of pulled Cyrodiilic coffee with a splash of cold foamed milk to serve. Said to date back to at least the Second Era, this style of preparing coffee gives an infallible smooth, balanced flavour every time.
What would one offer Talos besides mead or wine? I would say as a former follower that spiced pomegranate juice was a good offering. Pomegranate juice is boiled with cinnamon and cardamom, then served either hot or cold (never room temperature)! It's the perfect wine substitute that's delicious too!
You'll feel a million septims after a good swig of ice-cold Elsweyr-style tea with moon sugar syrup! This sweet delight is a strong black tea served with condensed milk drizzled at the bottom of the cup, and sugar syrup drizzled down the sides from above. It may not be good for your teeth, but life is all about being honest with yourself, right? And all the sugar is bound to keep you working hard!
