9.5.20. Portland
Images (video x) of a bloody and horribly beaten BLM protester. Police regularly attack BLM protesters through months of public demands that police be held accountable for their murders and police funds be reallocated to community services that serve the residents, such as mental health services, community development funds, and social workers. Not shown in these photos is the protester’s cry “I can’t walk” and her limp legs dragging behind her.
Police Commissioner and Mayor Ted Wheeler (D) has played the Democrat game of doing photo ops and repeating the same empty liberal phrases while upholding violent systems and allowing them to act unimpeded.
63% of Portland voters view him unfavorably according to a new poll (x).
sometimes we live together
the way the towel you used the other day when you were here hangs next to mine like a his & hers set makes me feel like we were in love that day. how you hopped in with me like it was something we always did together and we didn’t fuck, just flirted, just washed each other with hot water and soap and navigated the four corners of my shower, which is only really meant for half a person. how we lounged around my house naked for hours, spilling our past lives to each other via old poems and raps and even current lives; i read you “barbecue for breakfast.” i had to read slowly. we both got a little choked up. i am trying not to let myself forget, or block out, rather, the memory of you falling asleep on my shoulder that night, your fingers locked in mine, and how you said the songs that shuffled on my phone were too fitting for our predicament. i hadn’t thought of them like that. i already forget what was playing. “look at me,” you said. “this might be the only time you see me cry.”
it’s snowing today. when I was a really tiny child, apparently I was lisping. I lisped my “s’s” (<-that looks kinda nice). Dad would always have me practice. “School. Sky. Snow.” were the main three. Always those three. Some others might’ve been “sleet. slush. stew. slew.” I remember “stars”. I really love the ways my dad said “stars” and the fact that he did say that word. We never star gazed and I don’t know that we ever talked about astrology. Hearing him say STARS is it’s own kinda deeply magical experience. Daddy in the stars.
I think it was his Brooklyn accent and the slowness of how he said it that mattered the most. Emphasis on the AR more than the S——s. It’s like the whole word was made just for him to say R, so the st...s was a delicate touch. It was very pretty and very meaningful and it’s making me cry thinking about it. This is going to be a long, painful winter. I’m sure of it, sadly enough. Sad.
School. Sky. Snow. Storm. Sleet. Slush. Stars. Sad.
how can we hold each other as the systems that weaken and distort our humanity crumble?
While reading Adrienne Mae Brown’s writing, I kept thinking about how many of the systems currently in a place of power of the people are broken and distorted. Corrupt systems and greed are one of the many causes of humanity’s struggles and, unfortunately, corrupt systems run many of the world’s countries today. While the money-hungry 1% stay at the top of the food chain, there are people struggling to get by while working three jobs at the bottom. Greed and a lack of care for others is a major root of this issue, and the events of the year so far have made this glaringly obvious.
I think there are many ways we could work through these issues, but it all starts with the individual. If everyone started to work on themselves first, adapting better habits, changing toxic mindsets, and bettering themselves, others would start to catch on and things would start to change. From there, communities are created, and people can find support in each other. But, of course, this also happens in the reverse. Every community is different, and many groups change and grow together as a result of their members’ influence on one another. Even if an individual focuses on themselves first, they still grow and change with the perspectives and opinions of others. But, I do believe the best way to support others is to work on yourself first.
I’m not sure if this makes any sense but, essentially, our systems of power are failing us, and it comes down to us to support each other and fight for change within each system.

alright so here's a redraw of my sister's character, ani, with her updated character design. i drew the original (2nd pic) in february or march of 2019. it was done traditionally but touched up digitally. i like seeing my improvements but my inconsistency is very obvious when you compare this to my more recent pieces lmaoo
also please click for better quality, tumblr shot it point blank again
