9022 obviously has no idea how medication works, otherwise they wouldn’t be saying such ignorant things about it. Here’s a little science lesson for you: mental disorders (depression or otherwise) are caused by chemical imbalances in your brain. Your brain either produces too much or not enough of a certain chemical, which causes issues like depression. Medication is meant to help your body produce more of these chemicals that it does not produce naturally on it’s own. So please tell me what is “harmful” or “dangerous” about taking chemicals that your body naturally produces on its own, or helping the brain produce chemicals at a rate that it can function healthily? For some people, medication does not work, but that can be because their depression is caused by nerve damage due to stress or other factors which the medication does not treat, but that does not mean medication should be dismissed entirely. I am on several antidepressants, and I promise you I would be in the looney bin if I was not taking them. Medication CAN help, and denying people the opportunity to get better by telling them their method of helping themselves is “wrong” is far worse than the moral quandary of taking medication.
