Really important question...
It's for my Big Bang, and I'm tying my head in knots trying to work it out now:
Why did Sam and Dean stop praying to Cas in Season Five?
I thought at first that it might be to do with the connection to Heaven - Cas can't hear his prayers if he's not connected to the network (so to speak). Which seemed all nice and logical until I realised that Cas does hear a prayer - he hears the evangelist praying in 5x18.
Has this been explained anywhere? Or has someone come up with some kind of brilliant meta on this already?
