tbf I had a similar problem with Interview with the Vampire, which read as though it were written by one of the peripheral members of the RP I was in at the time, right down to the flowery prose and insistence on everything and everyone being tragically beautiful. I barely got twenty pages in before I gave up because it made me so impatient
it just goes to show that if you want to enjoy a book you should never read anything even slightly similar to it on the internet

Eddie Izzard saved my life, y’all. Back when I was trying to be straight, he was a unapologetic, fabulous light in the darkness, keeping the critical snarkiness alive. He’s awesome--and that “Yes, but no, but YES, but nooooo, but--” bit is just. Amazing. XD
