The Concept Of Fun With Running?
Initially when you first decide to run, it is either because of some personal renovating or to bring some routine in your life, the list could be endless. However, many tend to struggle with keeping this promise as they feel running can become a chore. Their motivation for running is not strong enough and hence do not feel the need to run any longer.

All work and no play
I'm so tired.
15/16 hour days are slowly killing me.
Only one more shift to go before my day off though. I'll try and run a slow 5 miles tomorrow and then Monday's day off looks like this:
Which looks like a 13 mile run through the Surrey Hills to me!
Running till you puke!!! Bleh
So I didn't puke. High five!
But sprinting is the mother of all of the things I don't like in this world. Kidding, its not that bad.
I just finished a 4 mile jog, with intervals of sprinting.
After feeling so empowered on Saturday from those hill repeats, I was convinced everything else would be a breeze.
Unfortunately for my reasoning, and fortunately for my own personal growth, life and running = its always challenging, with "intervals" of nice. Not the other way around.
I'm the girl who loves flash floods, and despises constant irrigation. (Very Nice.. ok I heard it in a talk at RS)
I will run up 5 hills, bike to NJ and back and then take a nap for 2 weeks. And expect to be able to do twice as much when I wake up :0
Well, fortunately I don't have to do that. 1 hill at a time, just biking to the next city for today. One day at a time? Arg.
I am currently reading Preach My Gospel as part of my mission prep. Chapter 6 is "Developing Christ-like Attributes". At the end of the chapter there is a questionnaire which lets you know how much you really posses each of the qualities. Since I am of an indecisive nature, I decided that the one I was failing in the most would be the one I would tackle first.
I was getting so discouraged as I moved along and seemed to be lacking in each one. I mean, I didn't know virtue meant keeping my word all the time...sometimes I say I am going to meet you on Monday and something shows up! (each Monday :/..)
Anyway, so all was dark until I bumped into patience. Oh yes, I didn't need the questionnaire for that one. I am one of the most impatient people I know! Out of the 1 to 4 ratings I got the closest to one in ALL of the statements under patience!!
When I run those 5 hills and bike to NJ and back, I expect to have the muscles for a marathon, and have the body of my life because I Worked for it. And I better not have to break a sweat for the rest of my life.
Yeah... its that bad. So I am working on my patience. And I have faith I will get there. Not as fast as I want to :P but I'll get there.
This includes accepting that I don't need to be able to do that half marathon today. I will get there, come June 2nd I will be there.
Patience, One day at a time.
Tip for the day: After each sprint interval you might feel like giving up. How can I possibly keep jogging after I just ran my heart out?? Well, make sure you take a timer out with you. After a warmup mile or so, sprint for a minute, then jog for 3 minutes. I can promise you that the recovery jog will feel better than walking it off or staying in place. Just stick to it for the full 3 minutes. You will recover. Hence the name. And you will be ready for the next 1 minute sprint :)
Go RUN baby!
