I am not weak
So typical. I'm keeping this diary as a way to monitor the targets I have set myself: to run a half marathon distance by Christmas, and to run 80 miles within the month of December.
So the week I SMASH one of them, I am simply too pooped to write it up.
On Monday I ran 22.08 km, otherwise known as 13.7 miles. I didn't run it fast. I didn't run it well. But I ran it.
It hurt like hell from about mile 4 and I had to repeat I AM NOT WEAK over and over until my mind went numb.
I am not weak. I did it.

All work and no play
I'm so tired.
15/16 hour days are slowly killing me.
Only one more shift to go before my day off though. I'll try and run a slow 5 miles tomorrow and then Monday's day off looks like this:
Which looks like a 13 mile run through the Surrey Hills to me!
December #80MileMonth
Week 1.
I had to stack the runs at the beginning of the week as I know that work is crazy from now until Sunday, with some 18 hour shifts on the cards.
This week's target was 20 miles.
Done.
Wild Bill's Hills
I have a running group. It's not a club. We are not affiliated to anyone. We don't pay subs. We just turn up every Wednesday and do whatever run is on the schedule. Sometimes it's a speed session, sometimes it's fartlek round the park, sometimes it's a an hour long road run followed by the pub. Occasionally we strap on head torches and go offroad up one of the local hill trails (my favourite). And about once a month it's a hill session led by our resident hill enthusiast, Bill.
Well this week he chose an absolute killer. The loop was approx 1km. Two sides of the square were up hill, with the second hill an absolute bugger. Then a flat sprint then a very steep long jog down hill to the start again. It was -2C. My legs are absolutely killing me. My calves are knotted, my glutes are shredded and my lungs are in tatters.
But I did 3.9 miles, bringing the monthly total so far to 20.8 miles. So I rock.
I rock hard.
Zero miles
No miles for me today.
I wanted to run after work, but by the time I finished it was dark, and 1C, and my motivation took a dive.
Still, I've already banked over 16 miles since the 1st and tomorrow is the running club's hill session (followed by CAKE) so I should be on target to reach a 20 mile week.
And everyone needs a rest day, right?
#80MileMonth you will not beat me!
Starvation mode
I'm such an idiot. I forgot to eat today (I know I know but when the kitchen is busy we just don't fucking stop for second) and then ran immediately after work.
So of course I just had a mini meltdown involving 4 slices of bread and butter, half a pack of pistachios and some dried apricots. Just waiting now for my venison meatballs in tomato sauce to cook so I can eat a mahoosive bowl of pasta.
Holy hell I'm starving.
Recovery legs
Oof, the cold hills did my legs in yesterday. This was the toughest 5 miler I've done in a while.

And finally, the breakfast of champions.
Entitlement
The reason runners are smug?
Because we are better than everyone else.
