Exposure to Give Whirling Effect
The Light of Eärendil - by Roberto Bertero
Personal Website "I give you the light of Eärendil, our most beloved star. May it be a light for you in dark places, when all other lights go out". LOTR / Tolkien.
Long exposure taken at Lac Blanchet supérieur (2.810 m), Queyras, France, during a very foggy and cloudy night. I sat on a rock for over an hour and only a few openings allowed me to see and capture a glimpse of the Milky Way and the constellation Sagittarius, also with its Lagoon Nebula (M8 - NGC 6523), aligned with the pointed north face of the Tête des Toillies (3.177 m). This mountain is located right on the border between Italy and France so it is also known as Roc della Niera. Thanks to bad weather the entire landscape was transfigured by magic and mystery. These brief openings in the sky were providing the only light during this time of the night otherwise of pure pitch darkness. In a muffled atmosphere every single element looked as impalpable, immaterial, as transfigured into a dream... a quality that I've deeply appreciated, which allowed me to get a night shot a bit different from the many I already have
