Being pretentious about my Pokemon assigning for a moment. There is a reason I made Dess/trk a stantler instead of a deerling or some other cool pokemon associated with shadows and darkness. It is because of the shadow crystals☝️. Looking through them warps reality and makes you see things much like how looking at a stantler's horns for too long also warps perceived reality. Otherwise I'd just make her and Carol also be deerling and sawsbuck. There is a reason for EVERYTHING
