I'm confused at a lot of the takes on Buck's approach to Eddie when Eddie was upset after they thought Parker and his sister were lost to the fire. I guess I saw the scene super differently, and it's made it intriguing to go through the tag, which to me is win-win, because RICH DISCOURSE 🤩
My take?
When Buck doesn't immediately emotionally engage when Eddie is down, I don't see it as Buck being distant, or not giving Eddie what he needs. To me it read as the exact opposite.
They're still in the middle of the fire right now, there are still lives to save. What Eddie needs right now isn't someone who will sit and cry with him, he needs someone who will give him the strength to keep going so he can save more lives and stay operational.
That's what Buck did for him. He put aside his own grief and was the strong one for both of them so Eddie could stay on his feet and ultimately save the day.
And Buck is uniquely able to do this for Eddie because Eddie knows that Buck understands. They both worry for the same kid, day in and out, the share a pain when children don't make it. So Buck's voice is able to get through Eddie's grief, and give him the strength he needs to get back out there. And Eddie finally trusts Buck enough with his pain, that when Buck asks "What's wrong?" he actually answered.
“You never came to Hachiko.”
“I have no intentions of pretending to be your friend, Neku,” he lies. Or not quite.
“Why you--” Neku says, grasping Joshua by the collar.
Then he feels Joshua’s hand on his cheek. “You still don’t get it?” Josh asks, smiling with his brows knitted.
“I--”
“...”
Neku holds his hand over Joshua’s. “You can still be my friend regardless, you know.”
“I...” Joshua trails off with his eyes half lidded. “What if I can’t afford to be?”
“Then get hurt for my sake.”
He giggles. “Like you do for me?”
“That’s right.”
Excerpt from It Follows:
A shadow of a smile played along his lips, but it didn’t crack through. He was on guard again, like he always was. Stepping away, arms linked behind his back, he examined her coldly. “So you’ve realized it too.”
She stared up at him, confused. “What?”
“Our powers amplify when we’re physically connected.”
It hadn’t occurred to her, not at all, but if that’s what he thought was her ulterior motive she had no problem using it. Better than the truth that she hadn’t been able to stop herself from kissing him.
“How far are you willing to go to test out that theory?” he asked.

Okay okay okay, so since I have made it v clear that I am absolutely ✨in love✨ with Kakashi, imagine him in a modern AU.
Let’s just assume for the sake of his mental health that he ends up leaving his position in the intelligence bureau (like say CIA or CBI) behind and instead, goes for therapy to get help with his PTSD, depression etc and starts teaching in a college.
So Professor Hatake.
My brain is in the gutter atm just thinking about him being a professor. It doesn’t help that I am preparing to be a professor 🙃
Imagine this absolutely disaster of a man, oh so gorgeous, being a professor of Mathematics, and tho he is always late and has a quirky way of teaching, his students love him because he is wicked smart and sharp like a knife with his sarcastic quips.
Everyone sees that he covers his face and never takes his mask off and people are a little like hmmm what is with the mas-
He becomes friends with the athletes team coach ( Gai ) and the professor who trains future teachers on school education and how it should be done ( Iruka ) who then further help increase his social circle.
Has a cool personality outside of college like a biker guy with a leather jacket, so the college graduates are like Mhmm I want a piece of that ass.
But in reality, he is still the biggest dork possible and is just a huge nerd who loves reading in his spare time along with adopting retired army dogs.
Kakashi leading a sweet domestic life is my jam.
I need this man in my life.
