Could you do a fic where damian introduces raven to goliath his batdragon, and although raven is scared at first goliath is instantly smitten with her?
Look, I have been drinking since 2 in the afternoon. And, here we are.
“Where in the world did you… get him?”
Raven could smell the scent of sulfur and smoke fill the small, enclosed space and her words echoed off the hard rock before being reverberated across the rough scales of the dragon laying in front of her. It lifted its head, taking a long drag of her scent before opening its eyes. His toothy smile widened and he stood up, its massive wings unfurling along his back as he took another step forward nudging the tip of his snout towards Raven. He liked her - she was soft and gentle, and there was something delicious about the way she smelled.
“It’s a long story.” Damian leaned back and looked curiously towards Goliath, who was still inching towards Raven, excited. This was the most awake he had seen the dragon in weeks, which nothing short of a miracle after everything he’d been through. “But… he’s needed some attention for a while, and everything I tried to do didn’t work, so I was hoping… maybe you could help? You’re an empath… you know what people want, I thought it might be the same with Goliath.”
Raven jerked, looking over at Damian. “People aren’t dragons, Damian. This is something entirely different.”
She wasn’t paying attention to him! Goliath seemed to miss the pets that Raven had been giving him, and he nudged Raven’s shoulder again, letting a soft sizzle of smoke escape. She flushed and looked over at him, cautiously lifting her hand to run along his muzzle, letting her fingers dip into the soft craters of his scaled skin. Goliath let go of a low hum of approval - almost like a purr - and he leaned into Raven’s touch. His tail wiggled in approval, and he leaned into Raven’s touch again.
“He’s very needy.” Raven tried to take a step back, but Goliath followed her touch with a soft whine, as if he wasn’t quite sure why Raven was pulling her hand back. He was obviously only here because she was willing to pet him. “Like a touch-starved cat. He just wants love.”
“I’ve been trying. He doesn’t like me the way he likes here.” Damian shoved his hands in his pockets and leaned back, his dark eyes sliding along Raven’s form as she continued to pet his dragon. “You’re a natural at this.”
Raven snorted and reached behind a ridge near Goliath’s ear. “And you’re the one collecting a menagerie of mythical animals. How many does this make now? Three?” She paused, her fingers running along the ridge as she turned and looked at Damian. “And why is that again?”
“It’s only two, and I don’t see why you’re so worked up. No one else is going to look out for these creatures… I should… I should at least help them.” Damian looked almost offended that she would ask such a ridiculous question, and he scoffed. His eyes slid over her form. “You’re good at this.”
“It’s just kindness.” Raven found a tender spot behind his ear and dug in again. “It’s not like I’m performing some kind of magic.”
Damian shrugged, and Goliath looked over at his owner, realizing that he had never seen him look so casual. Goliath sniffed the air and realized that Damian liked Raven. He felt a bubble of jealousy rise up before realizing that if they got together, then there would be two owners. Which would obviously mean more pets. Yes, yes. That was a much better decision. More pets was always the best decision.
He lifted his head from Raven’s touch and nudged Damian’s shoulder. Damian smiled and lifted his hand to Goliath’s nose again. “It wasn’t going to end well for him, and I… I couldn’t let him just suffer.”
“So, you brought him here?” Raven sighed and shook her head, lifting her hand to Goliath’s head. “He needs to get out and stretch his wings. You can’t keep him cooped up here forever.”
“And where am I supposed to let him just roam free? It’s not exactly like Gotham is a safe place for him?” Damian looked over at Raven, but Goliath could see the little spark in his eyes. Damian really did like her. There was something about Raven that Damian liked, and Goliath felt like he needed to get them closer. He pulled his head back and brushed up against Damian’s thigh, pushing him closer to Raven.
Damian’s shoulder brushed against Raven’s and they both blushed, looking away. Goliath let out an annoyed sound, that wouldn’t do at all. He wanted them closer. He nudged Raven on her opposite side, pushing her closer to Damian who had to keep her from toppling over. Damian’s hands wrapped around Raven’s waist and he pulled her up to a standing positing with an awkward apology. There. That was better.
“We should… I should… ah…” Damian seemed to stumble over his response, and Raven looked away, waiting for him to say something. How could they be so oblivious to each other?
Goliath was completely annoyed by now, uncertain how he was going to get these two owners closer. Clearly they liked each other. He could smell it in the air. He could smell their excitement and attraction. Why in the world were they trying to avoid each other? Goliath let out an rough grumble, and he lowered his head to stare into Damian’s eyes.
“I… I think I should feed him.” Damian moved, and Raven followed him. Goliath grumbled again, nudging Damian’s back. “He’s getting a little antsy.”
“Oh… oh…” Raven turned around, looking at Goliath before looking back at Damian with a soft flush staining her cheeks. There was a long moment that slid between them, and Damian finally looked at her, uncertain what she was going to say next. They could both feel the tension between them, and they were both waiting for the other person to make the next move or say… something at all.
“Goliath…” Raven tucked a piece of hair behind her ear, still flushing. “He… ah… he wants two owners.”
Damian’s eyes widened as Goliath sat back on his haunches, looking entirely too pleased with himself.
