Merry Christmas! OH MY GLOB I WILL CHERISH THIS CHRISTMAS FOREVER.
Before gushing over one of the bestest things that happened this holiday season, I should update that I've been drawing and sketching the past few days, here:
I am very weak with perspective, and yeah, pretty much everything else. I will practice and practice and practice. Let me quote Rock Lee: "I will surpass a genius with hard work! No matter how hard the situation is, no matter what the circumstances, just keep fighting. Don't give up. Remember your goals and show everyone you can become something more."
I've also been doing some flip-books - generally just copying out some animation sequences I find here and there, trying to imitate the drawings in each frame as much as I can (doing so allowed me to really pay attention to the details which the animator/s chose to animate and so) and then try to introduce some changes and see how that's going to affect the animation. Again, this makes me realize how much I still don't - and have to know! Hard work is the key!
As for Christmas, I spent it with my cousins and our grandparents. Really had a lot of fun playing Wii and generally just pigging out over the food my grandma and my mom cooked. The kilawin (pork ceviche) was my favorite! Yum. :3
Okay and now we move on to that thing I was gushing over.
I NOW HAVE A GRAPHICS TABLET.
I just want to cry. Yesterday I was just testing and trying out my cousin's tablet and here were the results:
That was my first time to draw and use a tablet, and yes, I did find using it awkward at first. I was actually torn between having a tablet or light box. I wanted to have this hands-on feel and I'm afraid that I might not be able to achieve that with a tablet. But hey, I guess it will just take time to get used to it - and yes, using a tablet will save me from using paper! Save the trees!
All this - whether I get to have a tablet or a light box or neither of the two - was entirely dependent upon my parents' decisions. My family is not rich - one could say we're the average middle class family. The money to purchase a tablet or light box can go to other things: like having our bathroom repaired (and rebuilt!) or paying for my brothers' tuition fees for next year. But my parents helped me make a decision and buy a tablet! I have the coolest parents! Thank you for supporting me all the way. I love you guys.
