Regarding Bobby's probably dead dad, while killing off a parent is definitely an easy way to remove them from the picture without having to worry about them in the story, having a dead dad who seems to (at least to the audience) have no place or major influence in the lives of those he left behind probably does not help Bobby's mortality crisis and sense of loneliness.
Showing the photo in the episode where Bobby has already all but given up his life, potentially recontextualizing Bobby's relationship to death this entire time when he's being forced to confront his relationship insecurities.
And the photo revealing Bobby has his dad's beanie, only for an amnesiatic Romy to make fun of it.
