I was just reminded of a conversation I had with my mom a couple weeks back.
My mom: *talks about something*
Me: Uh, can you repeat that? My mind wandered and I forgot to listen, sorry.
Mom: Where did your mind wander?
Me: Well, I was trying to decide if arrows are more expensive in LOZ or BOTW.
Mom: What?
Me: Because in the ‘86 game TECHNICALLY they’re only one rupee per arrow, and in BOTW it depends but in the standard thing they’re about five rupees apiece? I can’t remember exactly but it’s something like that. So you WOULD think that they’re cheaper in ‘86, but you have to take into consideration that a)rupees aren’t exactly easy to find! Once you have a big spending splurge before a dungeon you’re almost broke, and you have to use your rupees sparingly because it’ll take forever to get your wallet full again. I only learned this after i was running around shooting arrows willy nilly and I left the dungeon only to find that I had neither arrows nor money. Which is not a pleasant realization. While in BOTW it’s not that hard to rack up a bunch of rupees, with selling stuff and chests and them hiding under rocks and things. And let’s not forget b) that you can only have 255 rupees at a time! So you can only HAVE 255 arrows max at any given time, and it’s really foolish to use all 255 rupees because then you’re broke and you can’t buy any important items, like bombs or potions.
So, if you do the math, in LOZ arrows are 1/225 of your wallet while in BOTW they’re, like, 199,999/999,999. Which, I am bad at math but I’m pretty sure that means the inherent value of arrows in LOZ are far more expensive than those in BOTW.
Mom: ...I see.
