Sunday, 20th March 2016: Hingga Hujung Nyawa (2004)

Bruh, the movie ‘Hingga Hujung Nyawa’ is all kinds of sad.

Planned to just watch 15 minutes of the movie this morning (or maybe 30 minutes at most) but...I managed to watch it from the very beginning, up until the very end.

The part when Nora’s parents had to walk under the heavy rain, up until the part when Nora’s mother died made me cry a river, among all of the scenes.

Also, the movie is another reason why I don’t want to fall in love.

‘Hingga Hujung Nyawa’ is a movie about this girl named Nora who gets so drunk in love (’mabuk cinta’ nya orang Melayu) with this guy, Kamil (played by the hunk Yusry KRU), whom she met at college to the point where she neglects her parents back home.

The guy that Nora falls in love with is a rich kid, unlike Nora who comes from a poor family. And so, Nora lied to Kamil, saying that she is an orphan just so he won’t find out that Nora isn’t actually wealthy like him.

Mmm, not a smart thing to do, Nora. Not a smart thing to do.

Personally, I feel like in this movie Erra Fazira (the actress who plays Nora) proves that she is not just a pretty face, and is actually good at acting.

It’s no surprise that she won ‘Best Actress’ at the 18th Malaysian Film Festival for her particular role in ‘Hingga Hujung Nyawa’.

Saturday, 19th March 2016: Puteri Gunung Ledang (2004)

Concept: me, living on top of a mountain, surrounded by nature, away from civilization.

Much like what Gusti Putri did in the movie ‘Puteri Gunung Ledang’. :p

Finally got the chance to watch half of the movie last Thursday afternoon, and I loved it! <3 It’s pretty rare for me to love a Malay movie, but this one’s an exception. It’s very high quality, and the language used by some of the characters are very poetic indeed (although the lines that Gusti Putri and Hang Tuah exchanged with each other got too syrupy sweet for me at times).

I didn’t get to watch the movie from the very beginning though, but I was still able to understand the plot. c:

I’m not going to reveal much, but towards the end of the movie, Gusti Putri (a Javanese Hindu princess, played by the gorgeous actress Tiara Jacquelina) gets cursed by Sultan Mahmud of Malacca because of her refusal to marry him (since the princess is in love with Hang Tuah, a Malaccan warrior in the movie). The Sultan then cursed the princess, declaring that she will live forever alone on top of Gunung Ledang (also known as Mount Ophir), and whoever dares lay their eyes upon her after sunrise shall die coughing blood. Lovely.

And so, the following scenes after that shows Gusti Putri living in solitude on top of Gunung Ledang, and at one point, the princess roams around a nearby forest, and sheds a few tears.

Girl, if I were you, I’d probably be content if I was cursed to live on top of a mountain on my own. :p

I can only imagine just how relaxing it would be.

Why Team Rocket's Meowth is a Total Badass

Someone asked me what my favorite episode of Pokemon was.

Yes, I have discussions with my friends about that stuff.

Deal with it.

Anyway, I was about to say I didn't know, when I thought of an episode that I haven't seen in a long time, but I still remember to this day.

It was the episode where you find out why Meowth can talk.

Meowth grew up on the streets and was in a gang. You know how hardcore that is? He stole food to survive and went to Hollywood after being hung from a tree (not the bad kind of hanging from a tree, but like, by his feet or something. I don't remember the details) and seeing a Meowth getting treated like a motherfucking king. So Meowth, being the badass that he is, joins a gang to survive and starts hitting on some fine pussy.

By that, I mean a female Meowth.

To win her over, he learns to speak and stand like a human. This alone should be enough for you to be all, "Oh yeah. That motherfucker is a badass. I would fucking jump his bones right then if I were that girl."

After she rejects him, he's all, "Fuck 'dis bitch. Imma join another gang," and joins Team Rocket because that's the first word he learned.

A little while later in the episode called "Go West, Young Meowth", he sees this bitch again. This time karma comes back and bites her on the ass. She was forced to join the same gang he was in. He tries to impress her by beating up a Persian. After he whoops some ass, the lady rejects him and goes with the asshole who just got his face stomped in.

Women.

Meowth is such a badass that he even teams up with his enemy: Ash's Pikachu.

Yeah, that's right. He tag teams with his sworn enemy like a fucking badass.

I could go on forever about how he's a badass, but I'd rather not.

What is that? Oh, sure he doesn't know the special move Pay Day, or even how to fight that well. But come on, he can fucking talk and walk like a human. And he's a gangster (literally). Oh did I mention how he can PICK FUCKING LOCKS WITH HIS CLAWS? No? Oh well he fucking do that. And unlike Ash's Pikachu that is a pussy-ass captured Pokemon, he's still a wild Pokemon.

Nothing can hold this man down. Not even a little Pokeball. He shits on Pokeballs because only sissy Pokemon go to into Pokeballs.

And that is why Team Rocket's Meowth is a badass.
