tales from the law office
so we had a client who was, justifiably, upset by the inherently slow nature of law. I get it, I understand her frustration, but it's also an inevitability. it's paperwork, it takes time, judges are busy people, yes your hearing really is scheduled for five months from now and that really was the soonest it could happen
but this client decided to attempt to take matters into their own hands. they call me and shout about how they don't even know why they paid a retainer, so they will just FILE their OWN FUCKING PAPERWORK themselves. I tell them to please not do that, the order has already been e-filed, do NOT run down to the court house and file your own
lo and behold, an hour later and I get an email from the e-filing portal that the client has attempted to file the paperwork a second time. and then a while after that, a call from the clerk's office themselves, to which I give them the client's contact information
ten minutes later, a sappy sweet call from the client about how we do such good work for them and they'll be soooooooooooooo patient and polite from now on haha pwease don't be mad
