i couldn't sleep
Sometimes, in a different universe, the balcony romeo always climbs by mistake os, in fact, the right one.
But as in most universes their story is a tragedy, no matter how hard you try.
@vicapuleti little au of the climbing saga... After all, there are much stranger ships around... 😂
@freshprinceofverone the ship rises... (and they kinda fall, though...). Probably the only one suspecting something is mercutio... Ben is completely oblivious...
***
"what--!" Tybalt looked down in disbelief, of all the absurd thighs that could happen that night this one was the least likely he could think of. And yet it was exactly what was happening. Romeo looked smug, and really, really proud of himself, to the point one would think he had gone mad. "oh my God... Romeo..." Tybalt lowered the voice looking around worried and then back down at the boy climbing the wall like a monkey.
"good evening, dear Capulet."
"you're crazy. You're completely crazy. Good evening my ass." romeo smiled brightly and tybalt fell himself melting at the sight. How could a Montague make him feel like that?
"I can greet that too, if you wish."
"I'm tempted to push you down, Meo." just to be on the safe side, with a little jump, romeo went past the railing standing face to face with tybalt.
For a moment neither of them spoke, they stared at each other in silence - and maybe in awe too. Just a bit. -
"jokes aside, I wanted to see you." romeo's voice was low, more serious now, even sweeter.
"you did it this afternoon."
"in a fight!" and a bit outraged too. "I almost wanted to strangle benvolio when the blade..." he caressed his cheek, there was a little cut that didn't even hurt anymore but Romeo was so gentle that tybalt found himself leaning in the touch.
"we're enemies..."
"I should be faster. Stronger. Stop those fights before they happens. Keep you safe."
"I'm your enemy."
"you're much more. And I'll find a way to make it right." he corrected him before taking tybalt's face in his hands and kissing him, gently pushing him back against the wall. "I'll make them right."
***
"is that your way to make things right?" benvolio seemed surprised at tybalt's question, his gaze shifted from the Capulet and his cousin. "go and marry juliet?"
"I had a plan..." romeo actually sounded broken as he tried to defend himself, but tybalt wasn't listening, he didn't want to.
"wow! Brilliant plan, Montague. I... Oh, God... I should have guessed. I've been a fool, and that's only on me. But you played it well. - Romeo tried to step in but with merely a gesture tybalt shut him. - I almost believed it... I did believe it." he admitted and more than anything else that broke romeo's heart, more than the stinging of the knife against his arm, more than the warm wetness he felt on his own hands.
- but no, not more than seeing tybalt stagger back, eyes wide in horror and fear. Not more than seeing him collapse on the ground with romeo's knife in his stomach.
"I did believe you." he said. "it was real." romeo wanted to tell him. But didn't. -
