Tybalt (The Shakespeare Character) is named after Tibert (The Prince of Cats), a character from the then popular story Reynard the Fox. Mercutio, in fact, mocks him as 'The Prince of Cats' in reference to this.
Therefore, I propose we name him "Garfield" in all modern retellings of Hamlet
sometimes i forget how good romeo + juliet 1996 is and then john leguizamo comes on screen and it’s like. oh yeah, this really is like the best adaptation ever. and then harold perrineau comes on screen and you’re like, yeah actually this performance should define the role forever. and then when doves cry starts playing at the wedding and you’re like, okay, yep, no one else will ever do it like this. incredible
“Modern-day Mercutio would call Tybalt Garfield instead of the Prince of Cats” WRONG. He called Tybalt that because it was a pop culture reference, yes, but also because it was a reference to the Reynard the Fox character of TYBALT, the Prince of Cats; a character of the same name, whom he found similarities to with Tybalt Capulet and turned them around so the nickname became an insult. It was a popular character who had something in common with Tybalt.
All that is to say, modern-day Mercutio would call Tybalt Puss In Boots.
the prince of cats is a loyal dog
romeo and juliet is so overrated that it’s become underrated

Student AU University of Verona
Well, hello! I'm in love with this musical again! I have an idea that I wrote down in notes a few years ago, it sounds silly, but right now I think it helps me think of these characters with even more tenderness! So, here we have a Student AU about the University of Verona. Just think of it as a 2010s sitcom. There's a lot of awkwardness, slapstick, and room for self-determination.
I think I'd like to continue drawing on this topic, I have a few more ideas on this matter, I'll start a separate hashtag.
