SO SO.. this is Prosaic/Mosaic!! The Shelly design for this silly. Magical girl au I have that doesn't have a name yet. Oops. Currently she's the only one designed for the au. But I already love her to death.

While the same person, she perceives each form differently.

"Prosaic", her normal form, she sees as bland, uninteresting. Unexciting and unappealing to others, intentionally being designed with dull, non eye-catching colors, aside from her trinket, which is what gives her the power to transform. Shes quite self conscious about this form, due to feeling like a problem, feeling her raw self and emotions must be filtered in order to be valued and approved by others. She's not shy, but is awkward.. her being undiagnosed and not getting the help she needs. Her patterns are uneven and splotchy, not symmetrical and mesh into a mud of samey ness, and a lack of any claws or animalistic features to match with how she feels flawed in this form. She's at least more comfortable talking about her own feelings and interests in this state...(There's an alternative version with scars but I won't share that here lol)

"mosaic", her magical form, meanwhile, is the embodiment of what she wants to be. Mixing herself with her fixation, dinosaurs, while also smoothing out her 'imperfections'. All her patterns being cleaned up, her getting big sharp claws. her colors swapping from two color ranges to being all over the place, eye-catching, much more saturated . Much more little details to look at, and much elegant like mosaics are. She feels confident, on everyone's level in this form, yet only talks about what others 'approve of'. She wants and needs to be an example for others in her mind. She mustn't make any mistakes, must keep people's perceptions of herself positive and not strange.

This transformation, while fascinating, isn't so easy. Every time she goes into her magical girl form, she's so happy, so joyous.. but collapses the second she gets back.. it's mentally and physically exhausting to keep up with everyones wishes .. it makes her feel like CRAP doing this. Acting like someone she's not. But. She'd do it, shes gotten herself so dependant on the reward that. She doesn't care the toll that it'll take on herself .. she wants to be accepted so bad.. and.. if this was gonna the way, shed risk it all than to lose it.

Okay now that I've looked at a few more demon summoning rituals that have been used in media I think I know how I want the accidental demon summoning to go.

Kate and Sophie are at Kate's home when Penelope comes to visit looking for her dear friend Edwina. Edwina had recently stepped out with Mary to do some shopping but Kate invites Penelope for tea while they wait for them to get back.

Somehow they got onto the topic of them complaining about the language of fans. All of them are left handed so when the instructors keep telling them to put the fans in their dominate hands and non dominate hands they keep doing it backwards.

"What do you have there Pen?" Kate asked.

Penelope was holding an old looking book. "Oh it's a book my great aunt gave to me. There's a dance in here that apparently helps bring good luck to the dancers." She opened up the book to the dance she was talking about. It had a picture of three women mid dance all of them holding fans. "I know Edwina was hoping for better luck in the marriage mart this year," Penelope paused, her face blushing," and I was kind of hoping for the same thing. So I thought we could try it."

Kate and Sophie smile at Penelope. The poor shy girl was trying so hard to get out from her mother's house this year. Even though they were doubtful of marriage they knew Penelope wanted that, as did Edwina.

The older two offer to practice with Penelope so she can get extra luck when she does the dance with Edwina. Looking over the pictures and instructions it appears that the dance required two to four dancers. Each standing in different directions, and follow the dance movements with a fan in their dominate hand.

Finding a lovely spot outside Kate stood in the direction of north, Sophie west, and Penelope east. Fans in their dominate left hands they began the dance.

Kate's dance had her move in a lot of circles, two big ones with medium one and a smaller one between those two bigger ones. Sophie's had her moving in a wave fashion, swoop down, move back across in another wave fashion, and then swoop back up. Penelope's dance had her move in one long arch and then swoop back and forth back up along the arch.

What Penelope's great aunt, and the book did not say was they assumed the dominant hand was the right one. And doing the dance in reverse does not bring good luck.

Though Penelope probably got a pretty good hint when she felt hand covering her eyes and a whisper in her ear before blacking out.

Avengers AU - Drabble

Summary: Masks are meant to hide what’s beneath them.

A/N: I thought of that ep of Lucifer where Maze shows the kid her real face. And Loki and this popped in my head, but I fell asleep and woke up late for work and so didn’t have a chance to post it yesterday.

He really should have not been surprised. After all, Thor had told him you would expect him to follow along. Still, when you stomped into his hiding place and stood there in all your green pixie glory, Loki kept his eyes on the book in front of him.

"Loki?"

"Hmm?"

You stomped your foot, pouting at him when he looked up. "You are supposed to be in a costume."

"Costume darling?" He asked with mock confusion. 

You closed your eyes, taking in a small breath. "I told everyone. We are supposed to have fun! I even got Pepper to not plan anything cause we are all going out to trick or treat and-"

"No reason I should be included."

You glared at him. "You are supposed to dress up."

He sighed and set aside his book, shifting to lean forwards and rest his elbows on his knees. "Why would I dress up? To find candy? This is a Midgardian festival."

You swallowed, "yesss, that is true and there is a festival that is going on right now and it would be SO great to go, but it would be even better if you went along! You dress up, I mean even a mask would work. There are scary ones that make you look like a monster-"

"Is that something you would like to see?" He asked, irritated standing quickly. 

"Loki-" why was he being so ostentatious?

He stalked towards you, skin turning blue, ridges appearing and towered over you, "is this scary enough?!" He glowered.

You sucked in a breath, your hands moving to catch his shoulders, your eyes widening in what he assumed was terror.

Then you giggled. 

This obviously confused him as he seemed to deflate. "You laugh? Do I give you cause for mirth?"

"Yes!" You giggled again, still holding onto him. He pulled away, unable to look at you but you held on as laughter poured out of you. "D-don't! I'm sorry Loki," you offered with a sympathetic look. "It's just- you are so beautiful."

He glared at you. "Mocking me?"

You tugged him towards the larger couch and sat him down. It took you a moment to gather your thoughts and in the minute or so it did, you toyed with his long fingers. 

"I am on the team, a bit of a fill in really. Not here all the time yeah?" He nodded brows pressing together and the pale color seeping back into his skin, the ridges disappearing. You sighed in sadness. "I hide who I really am as well. No one really asks how I do what I do, but you showed me who you are so I will show you."

Loki moved to speak, but you tightened your hands on his distracting him for a moment, your strength was really incredible. When he looked back at you he was surprised to see your flawless skin has fallen away, revealing a twisted and deformed face, pale skin turning a sick green that was stretched and rotting. He flinched as your grip tightened once more, "Y/N-"

You let go quickly, jumping up to your feet and moving to the door. "I have a mask for you." Loki hurried to catch up with you, stopped as you turned abruptly, looking very human once again. “There is a pumpkin one and a skull one with horns, pretty sure I can dig up a wolf mask somewhere too-”

“Y/N--”

"I am a demon Loki. If humans hate you, a God, then think of how they feel about my kind." You avoided his gaze, "the thought of Natasha or Steve hating me-" you toyed with the hem of the green outfit you wore. "I hate being alone, humans have always been something my kind- I have used and tortured. Playthings, if they found out…"

"A mask you say?"

You looked up at him. 

"This mask?"

Excitement made you shake, "yes! I have several!" you squealed with joy.

Loki followed you out of the room. He could deal with a festival for a friend.

“So, the festival will take all night really and there’s a lot going on-”

Loki looked down to where your hands were firmly clasped together.
