At least he was okay. They just started this mission and no one needed any broken bones. Summer nodded down at him. “I’ll go find her, so stay put!” The last part was unnecessary, but it slipped out unintentionally.
She stepped back, but it turned out the sinkhole wasn’t done expanding itself. Trying to avoid falling in she scrambled back and tried to jump out of the way, but she was a fraction too late and the asphalt she stood on crumbled beneath her. She yelped as she fell in, cursing for letting herself get too close to the edge.
“Dammit.” Now they were both stuck. “I am so sorry.”
