Can you pls write #11 "It's impossible to get rid of me." for me?? 🥺🥰💖
Of course, g :))
(I just hope you like this jksisabisab it took me a bit and it's 2am and I should be sleeping but I just wanted to post this as soon as I was done 🙈🥺)
Fair warning: this drabble contains mentions of Squid Game--the tv show that is on Netflix-- but doesn't contain any spoilers or anything, just like a super super general idea of the show, so if you want to save this for later or skip it altogether till you're like a few episodes in, that's fine. I just wanted to give everyone a head's up before someone comes at me with a fork or something for not saying anything sjhgxsahb.
11. "It's impossible to get rid of me."
Red hair out of the corner of her eye is what finally made her look up from the laptop in her lap. Beca blinks at the dimness of the room, not having realized that it is already dark outside, and she reaches over to turn on the lamp by her side.
“Hey,” Chloe says, plopping down onto the bed next to Beca and setting her evening cup of tea on her side of the bedside table, “Whatcha doing?”
Beca glances at the paused episode on her screen. Shrugs. “Oh nothing, just catching up on Squid Game. What’s up?”
Chloe pouts, wrapping an arm around one of hers and nuzzling into her chest. “I just missed you today. Can we stop watching that for a sec and just cuddle?”
Beca’s fingers automatically go to her hair and smooth it out, shifting upwards up the bed that they both share so that Chloe has more room, “Just after this episode, kay? I’m almost done.”
Chloe’s huff is muffled against the fabric of Beca’s t-shirt, her head tucking neatly into the crook of her neck, “And here I thought you don’t like movies. You’ve watched this show every time you get off work ever since it came out and Stacie started bugging you to watch it so she could stop spoiling it around you and-” Chloe pokes a finger gently and affectionately into Beca’s stomach, “We hardly ever get any time to just be Beca and Chloe anymore.”
“Hey, hey,” Beca peels her gaze away from her laptop to frown worriedly at her pouty redhead. The light from the lamp casts warm shadows over the way she’s stroking Chloe’s brilliant locks, setting the scene for the tender tone of her voice, “We could spend more time together if you want. I didn’t realize you were feeling like you were being left out, Chlo, I’m sorry.” She presses a kiss to the center of Chloe’s hairline, loving the way it spreads a content smile across Chloe’s face. “Do you want me to stop now and spend some quality time with you?”
Chloe shakes her head, giggling as Beca whines that it tickles, “No, it’s okay. As long as you keep doing what you just did and letting me cuddle you like this I can wait till you’re done.”
Beca repeats the action that always makes Chloe grin like a little kid, “What, this?”
Sure enough, the smile that is on her face right then is big enough to crinkle the edges of her impossibly blue eyes. “Yeah.”
Beca does it again, and positions the blanket so that it covers each of their toes, “Cool.” She resituates her laptop for a better viewing angle and hits play, redirecting her attention to the popular tv show that is on the rise all over the world after making sure that Chloe is comfortable-- together with her cute pajamas and pink nose and sweet evening tea-- only breaking her concentration every couple of minutes or so to brush her lips against Chloe’s soft skin.
It is around a quarter of an hour later that Chloe speaks again, her words hushed and full of trembling emotion, “Hey Becs?”
“Hm?” Beca is momentarily distracted by the animated fighting on her screen and does not immediately notice the change in her voice, “What is it?”
“Do you… do you think we would still be together like this if we were both playing in that game right there?”
Beca whirls her neck around to look at her, to see Chloe staring at the violence streaming from her Netflix account, to see her swallow and shuffle closer, to see her cling tighter to the arm clutched in both of hers. “Chloe…”
Chloe vehemently shakes her head, her brows bunching into a little wrinkle at the bridge of her nose, “Just answer me, Beca. Do you think we still would have been?”
A lump forms into the hollow of Beca’s throat, her recently addictive obsession with Squid Game newly broken, “Yes, Chloe, we still would have been. We would have found a way, I’m sure of it. It’s impossible to get rid of me. And it’s impossible to get rid of you. We would have been impossible to get rid of. Together.”
Chloe sniffles, wiping her eyes on the edge of her sleeve, her nod getting more confident by the second, “Okay. Okay, yeah, I believe you.”
