Russia's Rare A-545 in Ukraine

The Russian A-545 is perhaps the rarest of assault rifles in use in Ukraine. Since Russia's full-scale invasion last year there have only been a handful of potential sightings of the rifle which features an internal recoil mitigation system.

The A-545, an updated and modernized version of the AEK-971 balanced recoil rifle. Adopted by the Russian military alongside the AK-12 for specialist units as well as the Border Guard service, where its complex anti-recoil counterbalance mechanism is less likely to face major abuse. Said system, while essentially a non-factor in semi-automatic fire (as the muzzle brake already does an effective job at recoil reduction), evidently does have merit when firing in full-auto/short bursts.
