The AN-94 in action. Perhaps the rarest military rifle in the world (and certainly in the United States - evidently there is one owned by the government, and this one - only two, no more).

It's both gas and recoil operated - it has essentially a second receiver inside that uses a cable and pulley system to enable a superfast two-round burst to increase hit probability and (potentially) armor-penetration.

The A-545, an updated and modernized version of the AEK-971 balanced recoil rifle. Adopted by the Russian military alongside the AK-12 for specialist units as well as the Border Guard service, where its complex anti-recoil counterbalance mechanism is less likely to face major abuse. Said system, while essentially a non-factor in semi-automatic fire (as the muzzle brake already does an effective job at recoil reduction), evidently does have merit when firing in full-auto/short bursts.
