There is a dangerous element to puberty in the Wizarding world. When a young wizard, full of hormones and prone to irrationality and excessive emotions, meets any stressful situations, they run the risk of expending all of their magical potential in one massive shockwave. This doesn’t cause much permanent damage to the Wizard, but the effects this shockwave has on the world around them can be…difficult to deal with.
So when Harry finally snaps after a particularly cruel Occlumency lesson with Snape, he reminds the school about why Voldemort went after him as a little boy. Something that Hermione has always been aware of.
