the shout drew his attention, coupling with the heavy hand on his shoulder forcing him down behind cover just in time to avoid a particularly nasty blast from the venatori mage that was hidden under the treeline. it was a close shave. dorian probably wouldn’t have noticed if it wasn’t for blackwall — having been too focused on directing his fire to those in front of him. 

          ❝ thank you. ❞ he breathed in response, the words genuine, despite the slight grimace on his face at being pulled into the mud. though, it was better than being obliterated... he was certainly going to complain about the dirt now sullying his ashen cloak. later. first, they had more pressing issues to deal with. taking a brief second to compose himself, dorian readjusted the grip on his staff, mentally running through his next possibly courses of action as he readied to launch his next attack.
