Did you know: if you plant an acorn in the ground without taking the cup off, it will grow a tree with becupped acorns. Conversely, removing either component and planting it results in a tree with just that component.
(acorn with no cup -> tree with cupless acorns / cup with no acorn -> tree with acornless cups)
This is a prime example of genetics
