A/N: This is super short, shorter than even my drabbles but it’s straight to the point. I’m currently trying to finish up my online class assignments so I’m a little distracted, being a senior in college is tough kids. Pace yourself kids. I should be done with all my assignments by the weekend so I can get back to posting twice a day. Thanks for sticking with me <3
He’s pretty obvious, so you took the leap and thankfully he was ready to catch you.
--------
Chan knew from the moment you sat two seats over from him in the lecture hall that he’d have a hard time focusing in class. You took his breath away. You always looked so cute in his eyes, no matter if your hair was up or down, braided or not. Whether you were in jeans and a tee or a cute skirt and dress shirt. Not only were you gorgeous, but you were smart. You took part in the class discussions, adding to the lectures and bringing up points most people probably hadn’t thought of.
He easily became infatuated with you. Throughout the first half of the semester the two of you had conversations before and after classes, you talked a bit about assignments and the latest exam. On occasion, you talked about what both of you had done over the previous weekend and what your plans were for this weekend.
Chan had confessed to his dorm mate Byeongkwan the second week of classes how much he liked you. Causing Byeongkwan to formulate a plan so easy that even his nervous best friend couldn’t mess it up. As the professor reminded everyone of the upcoming short paper, he dismissed class.
“Uhm, (Y/N)?” You glanced over to Chan as you finished the sentence you were writing before closing your notebook and started packing.
“Yea Chan?” Your soft smile sent his heart into overdrive.
“Do you have time to explain some of the stuff from class to me today? I’m still a little confused.”
“Of course. Should we head over to the campus cafe? Or the library?” You stood as Chan zipped up his backpack and stood to lead the way.
“It’s still early so we could get lunch at the cafe while we study.”
“Psychology and food?” You giggled, following behind Chan out of the classroom and then moving to walk beside him. “Are you going after my heart?”
“Wha-what?” He stuttered, his cheeks flaring in the late morning sun.
“Because if you are that’s the best way to steal it.”
He glanced over at you to see a slight blush on your cheeks but your attention was forward, your hands gripping the straps of your backpack lightly. The light made your eyes sparking and slight breeze rustled your hair, blowing it around your face.
“Is there something on my face?” You inquired when you caught Chan staring.
“Yes, I mean no.” He shook his head, trying to get ahold of himself.
“You sure?” Your playful tone caused his head to jerk towards you. “You were staring intently.”
“Yes, there isn’t anything on your face, the light just made your eyes sparkle.”
Both of you froze. Chan had said that out loud and he felt the strongest urge to bolt, to run away and never face you again. You on the other hand were shocked, it was a bold but cute statement. Before Chan could do anything you took a step closer and grabbed his upper arm.
“If you’re going to compliment me after suggesting we go get food, you could at least make it a date.”
“A date?!” Chan choked, his heart rate tripling.
That was like five steps into the future, he was only suppose to spend some more time with you before asking you out on an official date. Byeongkwan had said a lunch date that wasn’t really a date, just two friends getting lunch together, was the perfect first step. Not you taking the leap and making it a date. Before Chan could completely go into panic mode his mouth was moving.
“We can make it a date, I’d like that.” He tone was so even he surprised himself.
“I’ve been waiting to see if you’d ever ask me out.” You tentatively slid your hand down his arm to hold his hand. “I’ve only been making it obvious I’ve liked you all semester.”
“I had no idea, honest, I was just trying to not embarrass myself in front of you all this time.”
“Even if you did, it’s really cute. You’re really cute, I’d overlook it all.” You hummed, focusing on the sidewalk in front of you, the cafe in sight.
“Hm.” Chan nodded, his heart was beating still out of his chest but only at double the speed now. “Good to know. Seeing as this is a date now, I’ll get us lunch and then you can explain these theories to me.”
“Are you going to be paying attention to my words?” You walked into the cafe as Chan held the door open and moved towards a booth near the back.
“I mean, I’ll definitely be paying attention but it may not be to what you’re saying.” Chan’s eyes flickered to your lips for a split second before darting back to your eyes, an innocent but mischievous smile on display.
“Yuchan,” You stepped closer, hand on the back of the booth, “If you want to kiss me all you have to do is ask.” You paused to watch his jaw drop. “I’d like the lunch special, number 3 with a sweet tea.” You nodded towards the counter and took his backpack from him.
“Ri-right.” He nodded, darting off to place the order.
You sat down and sat his back in the opposite seat, your cheeks hot to the touch.
“I can’t believe I said that.” You muttered to yourself, “There’s no going back now.”
You steeled yourself and started getting your notes out to try and explain the theories from today’s lecture to the cute boy two seats down who you unintentionally confessed to. In the back of your mind you really hope that by the end of the day Chan asked for that kiss.
You looked up to see Chan heading back to the table with a little plastic standee with a number on it and two drinks. He set the drinks down, then the number and pulled two straws out of his back pocket. You thought he’d sit down but instead he stood by the end of the table for a moment.
“What are you doing?” You chuckled, his face scrunched in thought.
“Can I?” In seconds you heard your heartbeat in your ears.
“Yea-yes!” You yelped, stuttering over yourself.
Chan smiled before he leant forward, one of his hands warm on the side of your neck. The kiss was more than a peck but less than the typical kisses you see in movies. This was new territory. There was hesitation but his lips were strong against yours. The little peck turned into two, then three before he giggled.
“Sorry I’m not very good at this.” His face was flushed again as he swiftly moved to his seat and took a sip from his drink.
“It’s okay, we’ve got lots of time to practice.” You mused, taking a sip of your own drink to hide your embarrassment from your brazen words.
“I like the sound of that.” Chan nodded, seemingly less flushed and a bit more comfortable.
“Let’s focus on one thing at a time though,” You felt breathless at how he was looking at you. “Theories!” You pulled your notes forward and started from the beginning.
You were hoping with ever fiber in your being that the nerves settled and you could really enjoy your time with Chan especially since you’d be spending even more with him soon.
