    Synopsis:

          Rise of the Blood Queen is the third book in the Marked Series. In this book, Aimee struggles to face the consequences of the tough choices she made in book 2. She has to push her personal boundaries and either grow or die. There's an element of survival, but also the new task of building friendships and relationships from the ashes. We get to see more of Damian, Marc, Liam and Hex, as well as some new characters like Duncan. Duncan is an ancient warlock who lives in solitude in the forest. He has knowledge of the prophecies as well as the magic that Aimee is learning to wield.

Review:

            I think we started out on the main road, decided to take the scenic route and wound up lost in the woods somewhere with this series. I don’t even know where to begin, So now that Aimee is queen, she has a crap ton of other things, not just Damien, weighing on her shoulders; I love how much Aimee’s character has evolved in just three books but I really wish that she would find her way back to Mark. She gets more and more involved with Damien, and I honestly don’t know how this could be the best for anyone involved. The character development is still amazing, but the plot has gotten away from me.

          There are tons of ways the author can go with this storyline, and I’m not entirely sure I want to continue to see where it lands; as of yet Aimee is all over the place, Damien is as happy as a pig in mud, and everyone else just wants a piece of Aimee’s cake as well as preferential treatment from their queen. The worst part for me is that Aimee seems to prefer the semi-dominate nature that she gets from Damien where she once gave literally everything to be rid of him; and Mark is just sitting in the sidelines like a little lost puppy L, OTP’s never seem to make it do they? Once again I would have to give this novel a 3.5 out of 5 hearts.

    Synopsis:

          Beauty and the Darkness is the second book in the Marked Series. Aimee was left feeling vulnerable after Damian's attack on her at the end of book one. In this book Aimee throws herself full force into learning all she can of her abilities in an attempt to better protect herself from Damian's growing threat and protect her circle of friends. Damian's interest in her, however is much more than a personal one. He is not about to let her go riding off into the sunset with Marc. She is a vampire now, but there is so much more to the story, as she soon discovers. Several new characters are introduced in this book including Aimee's friend and teacher, Hex, who is a warlock, and Nero, the werewolf Alpha.

Review:

            Ok sooo, lots of new characters in book 2 of marked enemies and allies alike. Just like any good book there is an astounding plot twist; in an effort to spare her friends any more suffering from Damien, Aimee goes with him to his home and essentially be his Queen.  And feeling betrayed by Aimee; Mark then goes and “betrays” Aimee (It’s a vicious circle really). I can fully understand wanting to protect your friends from a homicidal maniac who made a deal with the devil to have you throughout the centuries; and sacrificing yourself for that purposes, but what I can’t understand is turning around and sleeping with said homicidal  maniac! It’s just so strange Aimee fought so hard to get away from Damien and his “attentions” so long ago, only to willingly put herself back in his grasp.

            While the author still did an amazing job with the plot and the character development, I’m having a hard time figuring out which way this story is going to go in the third installment. I guess you could plead Aimee’s momentary lapse in judgement on temporary insanity, but that is just not cutting it; why is the only way she and Damien’s power can grow through sex? Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but I was really hoping that she and Mark would make it through this harrowing experience; but I guess that is what happens with and OTP, nothing ever goes  as you want it to. Overall I give Beauty and the Darkness (Marked #2) a 3.5 out of 5 hearts. I softly recommend this book to anyone who loves anything supernatural, and the idea of reincarnation, and I say softly because I’m not entirely sold on it myself.

  Review:

            I enjoyed reading Marked , even though I feel it was a good read it was really slow to warm up  for me. Immediately you met Mark and Kate, and it seems kind of like mark is crazy stalking some poor young woman who we late find out is Kate. Kate so fed up with her life tries to kill herself and that is when Mark steps in to “save” her by turning her.  All goes well for the first few chapters, they each have a person they feed from so that they don’t go out and just kill random people; and then Mark decides to take Aimee (Kate) to Paris where is maker Damien, who just so happens to not be all warm and fuzzy towards Mark, lives.    Once they arrive in everything seems fine, and then Damien summons Mark and Aimee to his home; where it would seem I becomes “enamored” with Aimee. Later we find out that they have a lot more history together even more than what Aimee has with Mark. It didn’t even take a second thought for me to be convinced that Damien was bad news, the author wrote his character well with all the serious bad vibes I got just from the description.

            The author did very well with the development of the characters and plot, by the end I just felt so sorry for Aimee and the torture she had to endure at such a young age, only to be reborn again and meet the same abuser she so desperately wanted to get away from. I love that even though, He technically didn’t have her first, Mark was determined to be her only no matter the cost. I found Marked  to be a really great read; All in all I give it 4 out of five hearts.
