Nice motion graphics piece related to hacking
Also along the guidelines of public surveillance and hacking, is the game watch dogs. This could also be another option for my motion poster and could use some interesting live action to act out the game
You are constantly being watched, what would you do on the one night you are'nt?
Motion Poster
I was originally thinking of doing motion posters for the Mr.Robot series, which I have been a big fan of recently. The way its filmed and the way they portray the main character really interests me, until this was shot down by Rosie when she confirmed someone else in the class was already completing this as their project.
I would still like to keep with the Anarchy/Corruption mindset and maybe can keep the same vibe with The Purge film series. Now being 3 fillms out, I think one 10 second poster for each film could be interesting.
I have a genuine interest in government corruption, mass surveillance etc. So my mind is currently going wild with ideas.
I’l be looking into research Anarchy/Rebel type content and also characters in the purge with their odd face masks and creepy intentions. I think i great direction to advertise the purge films will make the public feel like they are constantly being watched and now they have an opportunity to do anything, without the risk of being seen.
Can see these involving someone masked with a scarf, running through streets, potentially with a weapon, glitches, RGB splits, VHS overlays, camera HUD’s etc. Close up of someone with a threatening look.
Small ideas for both briefs..
Type in Motion
Good friends of mine in a band called Casey have just released a brilliant debut album Love is Not Enough, and having loads of experience with lyric videos I think I could create something cool to meet the brief. Tom of Casey’s lyrics stand out and mean a lot and contain many words that can be easily portrayed through the form of actions.
Being a film-orientated guy, I’d love to film Tom where its just him in a dark room with a key light directly above his head, so it’s not too distracting when the moving text comes into frame. But like his actions when performing live, be very immersive and physical with hand movements whilst singing along to the track. Whilst then the words come into screen, they will be manipulated by what looks like tom’s hands.
EG - The word ‘Apart’ will appear and it will look like Tom is seperating the word from the center, causing the word to split in half and dragged to either side of the frame.
Once I determine a section of a song, it will be much easier to visualize, as then we will have key words to come up with ideas on how they will be animated on screen.
Something similar to this:
Brief/Pointers for both options.
The discipline of typography has evolved from static type to moving type, from designing physical objects to designing animated digital signage. Because moving type is dependent on time, it is important for designers to create a resonating impression and emotional attachment to their message. The motion itself can be mesmerising, so caution must be paid for fear that entertainment will supersede communication. Never before have designers had such access to, and such a variety of tools for literally bringing type to life. You have the ability to bring meaning to a body of text solely through expression and kinetic communication
Type in Motion
Select either a poem, lyrics from a song, or a short passage of prose and design and produce a typographic sequence based on your chosen text.
The words should animate and be placed in an appropriate context with your choice of text. Intelligent use of typeface is essential - using the correct typeface is similar to using the correct voiceover.
Would you use Comic Sans for a horror piece? (Or in fact, ever?)
Consider the many ways you can use what is around you, e.g. the words may be created digitally, traditionally, or constructed from found objects and photographed, again consider the context of your selection.
REMEMBER:-

Motion Poster
Today, motion graphics are playing a much greater role in shaping our architectural, urban landscape, due to the rapid advancements in LED/LCD technology.
With the emergence of digital billboards, advertisements can be shown on buildings, at stadiums, on the top of taxi cabs, in shopping centres, and even on the London Underground so that they engage their audience as people go to work or go shopping.
Another advantage to digital billboard systems is the fact that content can be changed quickly and easily, ensuring that a variety of material can be displayed and that breaking news can be added as needed, depending on the situation.
- Create three animated motion posters to advertise and promote a game, TV show or film to be displayed around the city.
- Your designs should endeavour to be engaging, visually dynamic and entirely representative of your chosen subject. Whatever your concept, the words, imagery and typography should be readable and legible, but also expressive and capture the essence of the poster’s subject matter
- Important note: Most motion posters are portrait oriented, and require you to work in 1080 x 1920 (reversed in AE/Photoshop settings). Ensure you are using this space effectively in your designs.
REMEMBER:-
How long will it take the average viewer to read the message?
What distance will the viewer be from the medium?
Will the viewer also be in motion while reading?
Will the surrounding environment affect the viewer's ability to read the message?
Will there be any external controls? E.g. interaction with iPhone, Android, etc.
