author's note: my first fic posted after a long, long break... ahh, you really did have to wait on this one, didn't you 🍋anon? unfortunately, i do not believe it lives up to the hype something this long in the making should, and i will most likely be posting a second fic after this so that my first day back doesn't seem like a total flop. i tried to make this interesting, but i think it just kind of comes across as cringe or boring, which i apologize for. this is not one of my favorite writings i have done thus far, that's for certain. i really hope you enjoy this one, as i know it was something you were extremely excited for. i did put some research into it, so if there are any unfamiliar terms, please check the end, where i will have them all listed and defined.
as the cherry blossoms bloomed
The sunlight felt warm on your face. It was early spring and the school year would soon be coming to a close. The students all around you were cramming for exams, but you couldn't seem to focus. The cherry blossoms were beginning to bloom, and their petals streamed around you like pink confetti, celebrating the upcoming end of the year. They were strewn across the courtyard and up the steps, providing a welcome sight for the weary students. Among the quiet drawl of students quizzing each other over possible test material, you could hear select whispers of excitement over the upcoming days of hanami.
You knew you couldn't afford to continue slacking off — you had to pass, after all — but to be honest, it wasn't like it was your intention. You were finding it hard to focus, your mind replaying certain few thoughts over and over again like a broken record on the world's loudest track. Every moment and interaction reverberated in your head, not giving you a moment of peace.
Recently, you had come to the appalling conclusion that you had fallen head over heels for a certain prickly, sharp-tongued, fashion menace, and it was all you could think about. Every moment you spent around him lately, you later realized you had spent completely nervous on the inside. Your feelings were eating you up inside, but you weren't really the type to put yourself out there and confess your feelings — it was enough that you weren't shutting yourself off, instead, and giving him an unintentional cold shoulder.
To your delight (or chagrin, you weren't really sure), the object of your affectionate thoughts arrived. You spotted Yuki Rurikawa walking up the path to the school quietly, accompanied by his friend Muku Sakisaka. Neither of them noticed you looking at them until they approached, and Muku happily waved to you.
"Good morning!" Muku chirped.
"Morning," Yuki mumbled, his gaze fixated down on a small notepad in his hand. You had heard about his involvement with a theater company, so you figured it was something to do with that. Feeling your gaze lingering on him and his notepad, he lifted his head up, eyes narrowed in a sharp glare. "What're you staring for, you creep? Knock it off, already."
"Sorry," you mumbled, dropping your gaze as a dopey smile rose to your lips. You couldn't help it; you were just glad to see he was still himself during a stressful time like exam season.
The three of you walked in relative silence to your class, the only conversation being held between you and Muku. The only time Yuki spoke up, pulling himself away from the designs he was working so hard on, was to agree to meet you both to study that afternoon after school.
You found yourself only barely listening to the lecture, idly playing with the pencil in your hands. Your gaze traveled outside the window, lingering on the cherry blossoms that had begun to bloom when an idea began to take form.
Hanami.
That's it! You had seen the agencies giving out forecasts about the cherry blossom front. A few had bloomed a bit early, and some of their petals now decorated the front steps of your school. You couldn't believe you hadn't thought of it earlier! Should you try confessing to him then? You figured you had nothing to lose and everything to gain. Instantly perking up, you tightened your grip on your pencil and began to feverishly take notes, feeling more invigorated as you couldn't wait for classes to end.
You arrived at the predetermined spot a bit early, hiking your bag up higher on your shoulder. You were nervous, to say the least, as you repeatedly tried to take deep breaths in order to calm down a bit more. Sitting in quiet, your leg began bouncing with anxiety as you awaited the arrival of your friends.
Yuki showed up first, and he looked surprised to see you there already. He greeted you curtly, setting his bag down on the floor as he slid into the seat across from you. It was the first time you had really gotten a good look at him today, as he had been so preoccupied every time you saw him. He looked tired, but not unhappy.
To be honest, whether he was tired or not didn't bother you. You found him to be cute regardless, but you were sure he'd be upset if you even so much as pointed out the marks of exhaustion on his face.
As he reached down into his bag to retrieve his books, you steeled yourself, your fists clenching where they rested against your legs. Your back tensed as you felt the heat rushing toward your cheeks. Every nerve in your body felt like it was on fire and your palms sweat. This was the moment, you told yourself. You had to do it now or never.
When Yuki sat back up, now with his book in hand, his gaze landed on your face. "What's wrong with you? You look like you're gonna faint."
Your mouth closed, motivation lost. Your cheeks felt hotter as the embarrassment bubbled up inside you. "Nothing... It's just a bit hot," you attempted to dismiss. Yuki hummed quietly, accepting your dismissal, albeit with some skepticism. Tensing yourself to try again, you prepared for the worst and decided to shoot your shot. "Actually, um... I, uh, overheard some students talking about celebrating hanami soon, and, um, ... I was wondering if you were planning on attending?"
Yuki puffed air softly through his nose as he thought, idly flipping through his textbook until he reached the material he wanted to study. "Hmm, I heard the other students talking about it too... Might just go to try to get some inspiration."
You perked up at his words. Your confession hadn't gone as planned, but not all was lost. If you could just get through exams, you could try again at the celebration. Should you bring something as a gift? Should you make food? What should you make? Karaage? Inarizushi? Or maybe he'd prefer something cuter, like cherry blossom onigiri?
A pointed stare burrowing into your forehead ripped you from your reverie. You looked up only to find Yuki's amber eyes glaring into your own. Obviously, he didn't appreciate you gallivanting off into some daydream about who-knows-what, especially not when the two of you were meant to be studying together. Thankfully, your savior in disguise, Muku, finally showed up, smiling sheepishly as he unknowingly spared you from an annoying lecture from the boy across from you.
All of you settled down, getting more and more into the material as time passed. Despite the textbook in front of you mentioning nothing whatsoever pertaining to your plans, you couldn't stop thinking about them, eager to get past the coming few weeks and finally facing the confession you had been mulling over for ages.
A traditional hanami bento sat snugly in your hands as you ducked carefully through the crowds of people, careful not to step on any mats, as you still had your shoes on. You had meant to arrive earlier in the morning, as there was probably more space then, but you got caught up working on your little surprise for Yuki and lost track of time.
The bento wasn't the only thing you came equipped with. Your bag was lightly weighed down with the highest quality fabrics you could find (that you could afford), as well as some additional accessories that Yuki could, hopefully, use while outfit-making. You wanted to be sure your point got across to him, and after seeking out the advice of some of your friends, you decided to come prepared with a couple of gifts.
Besides, even if he still somehow didn't get your message, you could always play it off as a springtime gift for a friend, right?
You finally caught sight of Yuki through a parting in the crowd and began to squeeze through toward him, calling out apologies to the people you bumped into along the way. Perhaps you weren't being the most considerate toward the other attendees at the moment, but you had come too far. If you were to stop now, you certainly would rethink your plan and call off the confession. Worst case scenario, you'd shut down your feelings and act like they were never there, to begin with.
The sky was cloudless and blue, and the pink blossoms were in bloom, providing a gorgeous backdrop to the scene playing out in front of you. Merely meters in front of you, your friend, pink in the cheeks, stood in front of him. Their arms were outstretched in front of them as they offered a bento — one nearly identical to your own — to Yuki, who looked startled, but not displeased.
The wind was blowing in their direction, carrying the words shared between the two of them out of your earshot. You didn't know what was said, but you didn't have to. The way your friend fidgeted, the expression on Yuki's face, it was all enough.
As Yuki broke into a small smile, you felt your heart plummet into your shoes. The bag you carried felt like lead as it weighed down on you and the bento burned in your hands, constant reminders of the confession you were too late to make. Your friend smiled too, and you could tell they were happy. He accepted them.
He accepted them.
Not you.
The sunlight felt warm on your face. It was early spring and the school year would soon be beginning again. The people all around you were chattering happily together, but you couldn't seem to focus. The cherry blossoms were fully in bloom, and their petals streamed around you like pink confetti, celebrating the beginning of a relationship starting right before you.
for any readers who don't know, in japan, hanami is the celebration and enjoyment of the cherry blossoms blooming, directly translating to "flower viewing." it's a rather large thing across the entire nation, and people from all over flock outside during the select few days the blossoms are in full bloom in order to truly enjoy them. cherry blossoms usually bloom from around the end of march until early may, which means students who have just finished school for the year, or just began school, can often attend, as well as people returning to work from vacations, leading to welcoming parties often being opened with hanami. due to the massive amounts of popularity and cultural importance, agencies often offer forecasts about what days exactly the cherry blossoms will be in bloom so that people can prepare for the day in advance. different places hold them during different times of day and with different sorts of decorations, yet all art still equally important. hanami bentos are common, as are karaage, japanese fried chicken, inarizushi, sushi rice within tofu pouches, and cherry blossom onigiri which are often enjoyed throughout the festivities, with the latter especially being enjoyed as it can be made to have a pretty pink color befitting the scenery. i hope this research proved useful and fit well into the fic, and i highly recommend looking into it if you are interested!
number 1 Children with masumi? I've just found out the lyrics for his song and Now I want to hug him
Usui Masumi:
Children: Taking care of your children with the character.
“Festival food always tastes even more yummy, doesn’t it?”
Your son nodded his head as he eagerly popped another piece of takoyaki into his mouth, one arm solidly wrapped around yours while the other stuffed food in his face. He was finally old enough to thoroughly enjoy the festivals that rolled through during the seasons and you’d practically begged Masumi to go tonight, knowing that the fireworks would be bright, beautiful, and just what your son needed to end his first time at a festival. You were eating now before you had to look for a decent spot, with Masumi reluctantly leaving to patrol different stalls looking for a few of your favorites so you could enjoy yourself, too.
“Excuse me, ma’am, but you look so young to have a child that age...” An awkward way for a handsome man to introduce himself but you took it in stride, giving a polite smile and a laugh. “A beautiful person such as yourself shouldn’t be enjoying an event like this alone!”
“Why don’t you back off?” Your son grumbled out with a full mouth. “My dad could kick your butt.”
“Don’t be rude. But also... I do have a husband so I’m not lonely.”
“Ah, I see,” You don’t think the man actually saw anything as he was rubbing his chin thoughtfully, telling you he wasn’t going to go away without a fight; you hoped Masumi’s ‘my partner is being hit on’ senses were tingling right now because you could really use him, “Well, I can keep you company until he’s back so that these other creeps don’t bother you. Where is he?”
“Right here,” Masumi’s tone was as icy as his glare and you watched the man shudder, taking a step back as your son got a triumphant look on his face, “Get lost.”
“I knew you’d fight him off, dad!” Your sons eyes are glowing as Masumi sits on his other side, pushing the food he’d gathered in front of the two of you; his eyes met yours and you flashed him an ‘I’m okay!’ smile before beginning to dig in. Your son unlatched himself from you and moved over to Masumi, proving over and over he was truly his father’s son as he tells his father how ready he was to defend your honor from the ‘bad guy’ who tried to talk to you. Masumi nodded along, a small, amused smile making its way to his face before he lightly taps at your sons hand.
“Blow on it first,” Masumi pulled the steaming hot piece of chicken away from before your son could decimate the roof of his mouth, blowing gently before handing the piece back, “You’ll burn your mouth that way.”
Watching this scene before you made you endlessly happy as Masumi hadn’t known if he would be a good father, not having anything to model himself after. You’d been partially worried that he was so protective and clingy that he might go as far as to be jealous of his own child, but luckily, he’d mostly grown out of his possessive stage. He was a bundle of nerves and fear when you were pregnant, even more so when you were in pain giving birth, but there was a sense of relief you felt when he cradled your son in his arms for the very first time. You knew he’d be a good father, that he’d learned from the mistakes his own parents had made, and that he’d love that baby with his entire heart, the same way he loved you.
There was only one other person in the world he’d willingly share you with and that would be your child.

Izumi’s little sister! Reader. Pt. 4. Street act and thoughts
-
“Wait, you mean THAT'S why everyone keeps Masumi from talking to me?”
Izumi laughed awkwardly inside her coat, small clouds coming out of her mouth due to the cold. “It's fine, Y/N. He’s a good kid and most of the time it only gets a bit weird.”
“Most of the time?”
“Anyway!" Izumi clapped her hands and looked at you with a big grin. "I'm so excited you are staying tonight. We should have done this sooner!"
You raised your eyebrows. It was as clear as day she was trying to get out of the conversation. Sighing, you decided to humor her and let it aside for now. “Are you sure it’s fine though? You said the winter troupe was rehearsing for the upcoming perf-”
“Of course it’s fine! Everyone was delighted when I told them you were coming,” she insisted as you both crossed the Veludo district. “Besides, thanks to you we’ll even get to have curry sooner than I counted for!" as she lifted some bags, you couldn’t help but laugh at her expression.
“You look more excited about the spices and ingredients I brought than me staying over, you know”
“Hey! Not true" Izumi pushed you lightly with her hips, making stumble and giggle. You had been sceptic, but it felt nice having some sibling quality-time with your sister again.
A few minutes later, you two finally arrived at the dorm’s entrance. Izumi took out the key to enter when someone slammed the door so loud you even let out a shrill screech.
“Yes! Yes, I am deeply sorry!” you blinked with a mixture of worry and wonder at the manager of Mankai talking on the phone feeling a deja vu. How could someone bow so fast while moving around? “Of course! Yes, I'm already on my way!"
“Matsukawa-san?!” Izumi called out worriedly, but he was already out of her reach. The man did seem to hear her though, turning slightly but not stopping.
“Everything’s fine, director! Please don’t worry, I’ll make sure…!”
Neither of you got to hear the end of the sentence, the silhouette of the man getting smaller and smaller. You saw your sister looking at the distance with a tired expression “You don’t look surprised”
Izumi shook her head at your comment, pulling the door knock and allowing you to enter “If I had to question everything that happens around here I... Anyway, let's-“
“Here comes the tour guide! Here comes so don’t move another step!”
She pressed the bridge of her nose.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
“Ah, welcome back you two,” you heard Omi’s voice coming from the kitchen as Izumi opened the lounge door with you behind. “You arrived just in time. I’m finishing some scones.”
“Omi-kun, did Matsukawa-san say…”
“Y/N-pi!” Kazunari’s voice vibrated from the living room’s couches. “Come here, we missed you! I’m sure you’re looking as bomb as always though!”
“Took you long enough, Wild Currian Performer.”
Tenma turned to you as well to talk but stopped halfway. “What the hell.”
Looking up, you were thinking the same. Kamekichi had yet to move from your head “Uh, thank you for… bringing me inside.”
The bird flapped its wings vigorously. “Of course, took you long enough! I am the tour guide!” after that, he took fly and left.
You stared at the hallway visibly confused. What was up with this dorm.
“Wait, was he waiting at the entrance all this time?” a blond man with a phone frowned from the couch. “No wonder I couldn’t find him to bring me- shit, advertisements,” he groaned, glancing at you and then turning his attention back to the screen. “Anyway, nice to meet you in person, Y/N-san. Although Citron and Sakuya talk so much about you I feel like I was there the first time.”
“Uh… thanks?”
As if summoned, the spring leader popped his head into the room “I heard the door, did- Y/N-san! Welcome back, I’m so happy you could come to visit us again!”
You smiled at the boy.
“Okay everyone, help yourselves, there’s more if you want.” Omi walked towards the table and left the plate of scones in the middle, allowing everyone to grab a piece.
You took one, humming delightedly at the sweet flavor. The autumn member chuckled “Would you like anything special for tonight’s dinner, Y/N?”
“Ah, we already covered that, Omi-kun! Y/N brought spices from home, this curry will feel so nostalgic!”
All the actors in the room flinched.
“I see…”
“F in the chat. Why am I not surprised” Itaru mused to himself.
“I-I am sure it’s really good…!”
“You two really are family uh…no, wait!” Tenma shook his head. “Forget about curry!”
“Hey! What’s with everyone dissing curry?” you frowned as you cleaned the rest of the crumbs from the scone, raising your eyes to everyone in the room.
“That’s not what I mean” he rubbed his forehead. You and director were too alike. At your confused stare, he pointed at you indignant “You owe me a street act, remember?”
“Ah, that!” taking another scone and biting it, you nodded. You hadn’t really done street acts before, but you would lie if you said you weren’t interested. “Sure, if you still want?”
“You bet I do.”
He had heard Taichi and Juza commenting on your acting during that autumn rehearsal too- there was no way he would pass the opportunity to test it himself.
“U-um!” Sakuya stood up, his eyes shining “If you are going out to do a street act, I’d like to join too!”
You tilted your head at the boy, curious why he seemed so eager. Didn’t they usually do acts outside?
“All right then, let’s do this.”
Tenma smirked walking towards the door, looking somewhat excited too. Well, they wouldn’t be living in a theatre dorm if they didn’t enjoy acting after all, you concluded shrugging it off.
“GG guys.”
“Tenten, do your best!”
“Yeah, try not to embarrass yourself, hack.”
“What does that mean?!”
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
By the time you all three walked out of the dorm, jackets and everything on, the sun had started to set up. You shivered. Maybe you should have brought more clothes.
“Was the winter troupe in rehearsals?” you turned to the troupe leaders walking alongside you “Izumi told me they are doing a mystery play of some kind.”
“Yeah, Hisoka-san is the lead and whenever he’s not sleeping he’s pretty good… so they’ve been going all out.”
Sakuya agreed at Tenma’s statement “I’m excited to see them perform!”
As you all continued sharing some light talk, you arrived at Veludo. Looking around, one could see winter was almost there. There weren’t many kids around, just adults and teens returning home walking faster than usual given the time and cold weather.
A bit later, you finally decided to stop on a roundabout next to a fountain to perform.
“What do you guys usually do?”
“We normally just pick a theme and go along with it!” the spring member answered smiling while Tenma stretched. “Do you have anything you’d like to do, Y/N-san?”
You looked around humming. You weren’t usually given the freedom to choose so nothing really came to mind except… “How about doing something similar to the winter troupe? There are not many people around, but maybe we can engage them.”
Sakuya might as well have started jumping.
“A winter-like street act sounds perfect! I don’t think I’ve ever done something similar to what they do. What do you think, Tenma-kun?”
“Not bad. Let’s go with mystery for our theme.”
“Wait, I know I just said that but if the point of a mystery is to solve it, shouldn’t we plan how to-”
Ignoring you, Tenma walked to the middle of the road and turned to you and Sakuya knowingly. His eyes shone with expectations.
You frowned confused still. None of you hadn’t decided anything, was he really-
“You can’t be serious!” Tenma’s tone of voice changed, cutting through the somewhat calm street like a knife. You also noticed his whole demeanour turning hostile, making people look his way. "I have better things to do than wait here to be murdered!”
Even faster than you had anticipated, Sakuya ran to him. "P-please wait, uncle Miles! I won’t move from here until I know who killed my brother. I’m sure the detective must have a reason for having us stay here!"
“Oh?”
“What’s this, a play?”
“Hey, these guys are from Mankai!”
As expected, people stopped noticing the performance.
You felt a thrill in your stomach, engines already turning inside your head. So you had indirectly gotten the part of the detective and therefore in charge of being the one to solve it uh.
Walking slowly, building anticipation, you placed yourself in front of them, blocking out the noise.
Tenma and Sakuya were awaiting, as well as the crowd surrounding you now and it was a strange feeling, if you were honest. Who knew what their next sentences would be after you spoke? You had no idea what could happen, and somehow, that made you smile. This really was a street act.
And so, you chuckled dryly but with elegance “I can assure you, gentlemen, this won't be a problem.”
She’s good. "HA!” Tenma crossed his arms, looking grim “Bet this is just another plot, typical of Marshall and his-”
“Uncle, please!”
And so, it began.
You didn’t notice how long you had this push and pull of allegories, fake names or places. At this point you were just a detective in charge of solving the death of Marshall Jones, a fraud who had been the successor of the Jones Industries.
...And that the biggest suspects were the two people in front of you; his younger brother, William Jones and their uncle, Mr Miles.
“This is stupid, I have men working for me on the government! They will turn a blind eye if I command it I-!”
“Just tell us who did it! I need to know who killed Marshall!” Sakuya trembled anxiously.
You just nodded calmly at both of them “You are right. This has taken too long and I apologize for it.”
Tenma and Sakuya both held their breaths. Acting with you was being a mental workout to keep up, but none of them could dismiss the thrill that came with it.
“However, I feel like I shouldn’t be the only one apologizing. Isn’t that right, Marshall?”
‘What?’
Confused, Tenma followed your pointing finger towards the crowd, and Sakuya almost let a gasp when a shadow made his way towards them. The crowd whispered furiously at the sudden change of flow of the act.
‘M-Misumi-san?!’
‘Since when was he there?!’
While they stared at the summer member, Misumi didn’t look that surprised, to which you inwardly breathed in relief.
Everyone’s eyes laid on him, his attitude perfect for the act, gloomy and mysterious.
Nothing like the happy young man who had wanted to show you triangles the first time you met "I was wondering if you would call out for me at some point, detective."
"Thought I would let you enjoy yourself for a while" you shrugged, and Misumi laughed huskily at your comment.
“Thank you for taking the job.”
“Yeah, yeah. Next time just try to not hide in such a melodramatic way.”
“B-brother? Is that really you…?" Sakuya walked slowly to Misumi, almost making it look like he was about to break into a cry.
Tenma took advantage of the situation to step in. He wasn’t about lose there "Y-you were supposed to be dead! I made sure of-!" he stopped half-way, covering his mouth. "Shit."
“Turns out you should have stayed in the room to check the works of the poison, Mr. Miles.” you made it look like you pulled two sets of handcuffs “As tender as this familiar reunion after death might be, I'm afraid you will have to accompany me. You are both been placed on a charge of murder… and inflicted fraud.”
And scene.
A few seconds passed and you swallowed. Had this been too much?
As soon as the first stupor faded, the now quite big surrounding crowd erupted in applause.
“T-that was amazing!”
“Wait, what?!”
“Didn't think another actor would be hiding!”
“That was Mankai, right? Wanna check their next performance?”
After thanking the audience, you hurried to the boy with a triangular earring, embarrassment running through you, noticing now what you had done. “I-I’m sorry for pulling you in! My body moved on its own and when I saw you…”
Tenma just scoffed, but you could tell he was proud. “Yeah, well- if there’s someone who shouldn’t have any problem with what you just did, it’s him.”
“It really was great!” Sakuya approached you both. “I almost broke character for a second there. Where you watching the whole time, Misumi-san?”
“Not really! I was looking for triangles and then I heard Tenma’s voice… and when I got closer I saw you guys acting!”
“Still, sorry for...”
“Mhm! It’s okay, it’s okay!” suddenly, Misumi started patting your head. “Good job, detective Y/N.”
You felt a blush rush to your cheeks at the touch and so you stepped back, laughing embarrassed. “I-I was also surprised how good everyone is! I mean of course you are, you guys are real actors but-”
"Let’s do another one."
“Uh?” you squeezed your eyes at Tenma. Maybe you hadn’t heard correctly. “But we just-“
“We have time. Misumi, you stay too."
“Okayyyy!”
Turning back to Sakuya the boy laughed nervously, but didn’t look surprised.
Ah, you were so screwed.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
The streetlights started lighting up when you made a decision to finally head back to the dorm.
“That was great!” Sakuya was moving as if he had received a burst of energy “It’s so much fun acting with people outside Mankai, isn’t it!”
“Everyone’s applauses were really suuuper loud too!”
“…and you say you only go sometimes to your theatre club?" Tenma saw you nod and shoved his hands into the pockets of his winter coat, groaning. "Just what's up with people like you and Misumi?"
"Hmh? Y/N and I are similar? Yaaaayy!"
"Misumi? it didn't sound like a compliment to me."
Sakuya laughed at the exchange. It truly had been an amazing experience. "Did you do theatre with director when you two were younger?"
You hummed, thinking about it. To be honest, theatre had always been around but you hadn’t really... When was it that you started acting again?
A scream stopped your train of thought.
"M-Misumi-san?!"
“You scared the daylights out of me, Misumi!"
Turning to the young man, you noticed him making a triangle with his hands and, while using it as a telescope, suddenly speeding up the pace. "It's a triangular cloud!"
"Misumi-san, please don't follow the cloud, we’ll be late for dinner!"
"Tri-triangle, tri-tri-triangle…!"
"Oi Misumi, quit singing and stop! I know you can hear us!"
Watching the interaction, you couldn't help but laugh, running after them.
They were a weird bunch… but in an endearing kind of way.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
“Oh? If it isn’t our cute Y/N” Azuma smiled softly as you all walked in.
“Did you guys go do street acts?” Tasuku lifted his head from the script in his hands. Sakuya nodded eagerly at the older actor, explaining the performances and the audience reaction.
Tsumugi laughed after the spring leader finished. “Seems like you all enjoyed yourselves out there.”
“Ah, youth! If only time would let us stop our bodies to enjoy the real pass of time of our souls!”
“Arisu… you’re annoying...”
“Okay everyone, let’s call the rest and start plating everything, okay?
You spent the rest of the night with the majority of the dorm.
You had a banter with Masumi about not giving your blessing, being cut by Citron’s weird proverbs and him being at the same time stopped by Tsuzuru. You laughed at Banri’s and Juza’s not so passive aggressive comments, heard some more stories about everyone and of course, you talked about acting and performances.
You shook your head amused. They really were acting addicts.
By the end of dinner, you excused yourself to go to the bathroom.
Closing your eyes, you splashed water in your face, deep in thought. “Living in this dorm must be amazing though…”
They all seemed to work so hard on any act they did… that it confused you. Izumi had always been insistent about you doing theatre and, while you appreciated it, you never took it seriously.
You enjoyed it, sure, but was it maybe because it came naturally to you? …What if you chose to act for real and then didn’t feel the same way after seeing the bad aspects of it?
Your mother was another matter too. She had made it clear she wouldn’t say anything, but you could tell it didn’t… exactly enthusiasm her. She barely mentioned Izumi’s work at home.
However, acting with everyone in Mankai had been fun. Every time.
Even you were surprised. Just how many street acts had you done after the first one today? You hadn’t practiced that much improv in a long time, not even in your theatre club.
It wasn't as of you didn't enjoy your own theatre activities, but surely there had to be a reason why you found yourself so awestruck by everyone here.
Or maybe not. Your mind was a mess. Closing the bathroom door, you sighed before noticing a figure walking towards you.
“Hey, I got the money ”
Without skipping a beat, you ‘tch’ed at Tenma. “First you’ll have to show me the body.”
“I have to see the money,” he pointed at you with his chin.
“First the body… or yours.” A few seconds passed and you both finally sneered. Tenma sighed, shaking his head.
“Thought I could get past you, dammit. You really should consider acting.”
Bullseye.
“Actually- Tenma, I was thinking” you faltered. “Um, did you… always want to be an actor?”
“Well- I was pretty much always in the industry since I was young, so yeah, I’d say so?”
“You never thought it could have been your parent… you know, telling you how you had talent what might have made you start acting?”
The summer leader thought about it, looking at the ceiling. However, he soon shrugged “If so, what?” noticing your confusion, he kept talking. “I mean, I guess they did have some influence… but in the end it was me who decided to stay. For me, not for them.”
You nodded. That made sense.
“Why the question?”
“Ah, nothing it’s just- I think Izumi tends to overreact saying I am like dad, you know, with acting and all. I didn’t think much about it until these acts made me feel…”
“Fulfilled?” The summer leader finished for you. Seeing he was right by looking at your face, he shrugged again in response. “I don’t know Yukio-san to say you are a copy of him, but yeah, you are good. Still though, you should do what you want above everything else.”
You nodded again.
You both headed back to the living room as a heated karaoke discussion between Citron and Banri while a few others tried to act as mediators.
Izumi turned to you and smiled “Everything okay?”
You faced her. The thoughts about acting and theatre could wait. As Tenma said, you didn’t have to rush and for now. You decided to let it aside and enjoy the warm feeling of being reunited with your sister and her weird, but lovable group of actors.

C omfort - How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?
Yuki is very attentive to his lover when they have a panic attack, but keeps his hard shell up during the whole thing. He’ll scoff at you, but quickly puts his needlework down as his brow creases. He makes offhanded comments but his eyes soften more and more the longer he looks at you. If you’re really broken down over it, he will treat you more gently and soften his words, offering you his shoulder. His sarcastic comments won’t completely go away, but he makes sure to not direct them toward you, choosing instead to spew his bitter words at whatever has caused you this distress. He realizes that comforting isn’t his strong suit, so he hopes that maybe his offhanded and rude comments will maybe pull a laugh our of you, and won’t stop until the edges of your mouth quirk up a little. Not like he’ll ever tell you that, idiot.
F ight - Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?
Yuki isn’t always the most forgiving, as he’s been hurt so much growing up, that if someone close to him was to do the same, he’s not sure how easily he’d be able to forgive them. He tries to keep from fighting, at least with you, however sometimes that mouth of his lets something slip, and a fight may ensue. Yuki may be one to start fights with others, but he doesn’t enjoy fighting. His temper does sometimes take over, but he also calms down quickly and, while he wont be the first to apologize, he will quiet down quickly, but may remain bitter until you stop arguing as well.
N icknames - What do they call their s/o?
In a relationship with Yuki, you’re affectionately dubbed all kinds of sweet, romantic names like “Idiot” and “Dummy.” Not to fret, of course you have your own special nickname, like all the others, and yours tends to be something along the lines of “Toothache”, because he claims you’re “unbearably sweet” and that its “insufferable”. However, despite his harsh words, his face always seems to soften as he gazes at you and says it.
Q uirk - Some random ability they have that’s beneficial in a relationship.
The bluntness with which Yuki does things is pretty beneficial, as you don’t need to worry about him hiding how he feels about anything from you. That, combined with his eye for fashion, always causes him to be your number one hype man, despite his backhanded compliments. His ability to make you look your best can be very helpful in making you also feel your best.
U nderstanding - How good do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?
Yuki may not be the most empathetic at times, but he does his best to try to stay in tune with your emotions. He knows his words can be hurtful and he can come across as indifferent because he’s so focused on his goals, but he wants you to know he’s there for you. It may be hard for him sometimes, but he tries his best to take the time to ask how you’re doing during the day, and remind you that he does, in fact, love you.
V alue - How important is the relationship to them? What is it’s worth in comparison to other things in their life?
The relationship means more to Yuki than he lets on. He doesn’t talk about it often but the feeling of having someone unconditionally cheer for him and accept him for who he is...is nice. He knows that the Mankai Company accepts him and all, but it’s different having someone who loves him like you do. He’s not used to it and wasn’t even sure he wanted it until he met you. But now that he has, he doesn’t want to let you go; your relationship means too much to him, and you’ve become part of his dream for the future.
Y earning - How will they cope when they’re missing their partner?
At first glance, Yuki doesn’t seem any different. However, someone who knows him a little better would be able to tell that Yuki seems much more bitter than usual. His words are more biting and his tone harsher. His fellow troupe members avoid him when you’re gone as they’re afraid they’ll end up impaled on the end on the sewing needle. When you return, however, he makes some offhanded comment about how he didn’t actually miss you, he just found the others more annoying than usual without you beside him. Don’t believe him - he missed you a lot.
Z eal - Are they willing to go to great lengths for the relationship? If so, what kind of?
Yuki isn’t one to not give his all in something he does. The same extends toward relationships. He does his best and gives his all in trying to be the best boyfriend for you. However, if you stand in the way of his dreams, and stubbornly refuse to move and make way, he will no longer go to those great lengths for you anymore. He knows what he wants and he is willing to give some things up for you, but not everything, and would prefer a partner who can work with him toward a future you both want, and not leave him to give up everything he wants.
Um if these are still open could I request B, C K n X from the fluff alphabet with Itaru? ;;
B eauty - What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them?
When it comes to relationships, Itaru is a simple man. He finds beauty in how you stay beside him, despite the striking difference between Daytime Working Itaru and Nighttime Gamer Itaru. He admires the way you show interest in his game, and listen when he talks about whatever quest he may have just done. He thinks it’s beautiful when you spend the nights gaming with him - regardless of your skill - and still manage to wake up with a bright, radiant smile in the morning. He admires you for you, honestly, and wouldn’t change a single thing about the beauty you possess.
C omfort - How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?
Itaru is definitely the worst in the Spring Troupe when it comes to comforting, and he knows it. He tries to use his business persona at times, trying to talk to you with sweet words instead of crude ones. He doesn’t talk about his games, and it’s one of the rare times when he will have his phone completely tucked away in his pocket. He sits quietly beside you and waits for you to vent before he strokes your back and speaks with soft words.
K iss - Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?
Itaru is an alright kisser. Nothing special really. His kisses tend to be short as his mind wanders back toward when he’s going to spend his SP, but he gives them pretty often. Sometimes, if he’s in a bad mood after, say, losing a raid, or something, he tends to kiss with a lot more of a fire behind it, and it can leave your lips feeling tender and bruised. Later at night, when Itaru’s focus is hooked on his games, sometimes you can silently sneak up on him and press kisses where ever you’d like against his face and, sometimes, he’ll absentmindedly kiss you back, or at least makes a little smooch sound in response.
X OXO - Are they very affectionate? Do they love to kiss and cuddle?
Itaru’s not really the most affectionate either. He’s alright with cuddling as long as he can have his phone or a console with him, but, as after work is his game time, he does want to spend it actually gaming. Itaru does enjoy spending his time with you, and he realizes the importance of doing so in the relationship, so when either of you get into a cuddly mood, he likes to simply plop you into his lap, chin resting on the crown of your head or your shoulder, and game. Itaru enjoys if you want to play while he holds you like that, but is also alright with you simply wanting to watch. Regardless of you choice, any victory, whether it be yours or his, is rewarded with a soft kiss pressed against your shoulder or the side of your neck.
Fluffy alphabet with Tenma if it’s still open? J, K, C, and L? You’re awesome ✨🌻
C omfort - How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?
You’re the first person Tenma has ever had to comfort. Like ever. In his life. He’s not very good at it either. He pats your back and says comforting words, but that’s about all he can do. Tenma has never had to deal with something like this; he’s not only never been in a relationship, but due to his upbringing, he’s never really had to see people breaking down over something before. The longer the two of you stay together, the more he asks around for advice on what to do, but at first, he’s completely lost. Have patience with this boy - he’s genuinely trying and really cares.
J ealousy - Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?
Tenma has never really had to share much of anything in his life. A famous, rich actor prodigy like him - everything he could ever want, he can have. So whenever someone starts getting too close for comfort with you, Tenma feels never felt before. Jealousy. Why are you with them? Your his significant other aren’t you? Tenma doesn’t understand how he feels straight away. It takes him a while. When it does hit him, it hits him hard. Tenma does get jealous at times, but his ego is large enough to cover for it as he slings his arm around your waist and pulls him close, glaring through those designer sunglasses of his.
K iss - Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?
Tenma’s only kissing experience comes from the acting he’s done. While the kiss itself may be good - maybe even better than you might have expected - but he, himself, is very stiff. At first, Tenma forgets that he’s not on set when kissing you, and it doesn’t need to be a show. When he does remember that it’s not a set, and he can kiss you however he wants, he loosens up a lot more, and even pulls you closer by the waist.
L ove Confession - How would they confess to their s/o?
Tenma barely gets to think about his own confession - Muku takes care of the it the second he realizes Tenma had a crush on you. He ran to his room before running back and shoving stacks of shojo manga into his arms. Tenma sat through a long winded, yet passionate, lecture from Muku on romantic ways he could confess to you - the only catch was Tenma was barely listening. When it came time to confess, he searched his whole brain to try to find what he said, but couldn’t. You could practically hear Muku’s facepalm as Tenma simply stuttered out “I... like you. Uh... go out with me?”. It was a train wreck, but at least the contrast of his red cheeks and orange hair was cute.
