A classic synoptic meteorology question, to explain how surface cyclones and anticyclones are related to curved flow in the upper atmosphere.
The orientation of the centripetal acceleration affects the strength of Coriolis, which causes the winds to be faster or slower than geostrophic in curved regions.
The result: upper level divergence (= upward motion) and convergence (=downward motion) at the inflection points in between!

My grandparents bought this piano for my mom in 1961. It sat in my grandma’s house, likely in the same spot, until I brought it to Brooklyn a few years ago. I don’t think it had ever been tuned and drifted flat across the board, some keys much worse than others. I’m gradually bringing it back in tune, but playing it safe and aiming for A437 Hz. . . . #tuningtalk #piano #strings #intonation #A437 #beats (at Brooklyn, New York)
