Microwave

Now Nep wasn’t proud of this…but she may have read something on Tumblr…and she may not have recognized the sarcasm. When she read a post that said “microwave an egg you’ll be amazed at what happens!” She decided to try it downstairs in the dorm kitchen. Oh she was amazed alright. Amazed at the mess it had made. Egg was everywhere inside the microwave and on the counter around it and pretty much everywhere. Nepeta squeaked. She had to clean this all before anyone came down and found out. She honestly had no idea how to clean egg. Could she just wipe it all up or did egg get sticky? She didn’t really know, it never accrued to her to ask anyone. It wasn’t as if cleaning up a shit ton of egg off the student kitchen microwave was the type of problems she thought she’d be facing in life… She wet a sponge. She didn’t know if someone would get mad at her for messing up the community kitchen or not but she didn’t wanna find out. Besides she didn’t exactly want anyone to see her. Along with getting egg everywhere shed gotten a bit on herself too. Not the best first impression. So when Nepeta heard footsteps she froze. She felt the presence of someone else in the room. Of someone staring at her she turned “I can explain…”

A Working Girl

Nepeta worked at Derse. She loved working at Derse. she loved her coworkers, especially her boss Meenah, she loved the smell of ground coffee beans, and she loved the costumers. Nepeta was a hard worker if she did say so herself, she was a bit of a klutz sometimes but she tried her hardest. She was still working on working all the machines so mostly she just took orders, which was fine with her. Nepeta loved people. 

Nepeta walked to work in the rain, her umbrella was pink and polka dotted. She had put her black choppy hair into low pigtails. Her blue cat hat was pulled onto her head as always. She had put on her a pink blouse and jeans. She walked into the cafe and shook out her umbrella. She pulled off her hat and set it with her stuff. She grabbed her Derse cafe apron over her head and fixed her hair.

It was raining so it was one of those slow days when they didn’t get many customers. She grabbed a seat by the counter and waited, pulling out her phone and started playing crossy-roads. The cafe was pretty much void of life. Sometimes they had slow days like that, which Nepeta didn’t mind.

When the door open with a little chime Nepeta put her phone away. She hoped up, not really paying attention to who had entered. She stood by the counter waiting too take the persons order. She straightened her hair and looked up at the person standing there, giving a little smile.

“Welcome to Derse, can I take your order,” She gave her best smile, making her cheeks dimple and her emerald green eyes sparkle.

Vents

Nepeta had always been curious. I mean curiosity never killed the cat, am I right? Oh wait was that the other way around? Oh well. Anyway she'd mostly been timid about ignoring the rules for most of her life. Now? pfft, fuck da rules. Nepeta does what she wants when she wants. That was the great thing about being at AA, you were expected to be mature and independent. Take care of yourself with very little supervision. mature? Since when had Nepeta ever been mature? Nope, she was a child and a child does what a child does best: Get into trouble.

Nepeta was does just that at this moment. Big school needed big vents she guessed because Nepeta could just squeeze inside. It had been a trick she'd learned that one time the lights went out and Caliborn had been being a douchebag. She ditched him and into the vents. It had been her favorite mod of transportation even since. Especially since she had a vent in her room to squeeze into, so she could only get caught coming out of the vent and not going into one. Of course she knew how much trouble she'd get into if she was caught. It was pretty dangerous to go crawling through the vents but she was small and light enough that it didn't really matter.

At the moment, Nepeta was in the vents crawling over the boy's dorm. It was a Saturday afternoon so it was needless to say more than half of these losers were eating potato chips and playing video games. Why couldn't they do something productive, like her. Nerds. She was on her stomach crawling over someone's room when her cellphone rang. The nightcore version of Hello Kitty by Avirl Lavgine blared through the vent and undoubtedly into the room bellow. Shiiiiiiiiiiit. Nepeta was so surprised herself she jumped and hit her head on the roof of the vent and yelped. Great. She'd just alerted the person below her she was up her and had most likely cause what was about to be the most awkward moment of her life.

That one new kid

Cronus had only been at the school, what? 3 days? maybe longer. He wasn't really keeping track, but most likely 3 days. he didn’t like not really knowing anyone. Meeting people went bad for him. It usually started with some cheesy pick up line and ended in complete and utter disgust. That was fine though, they were just jealous. Totally. 

He sat on the park bench by his dorms with his guitar. He took his time tuning it and playing the cords until they sounded right and doing a few exercises running his fingers down the fret board and strumming the different strings. He was all good so he started to play wonderwall. He kinda wanted to sing along to it as well but well, people should have to pay for that kinda show right? Of course these were the kinda thing he told himself to hide the fact he was actually too embarrassed to sing out in public.

He finished the song and was surprised to look down and see he was bleeding. It was the kinda thing that happened when you didn’t play with a pic and Cronus’ fingers were all tore up because of it. He hadn't even noticed. He was even more surprised to look up and see someone standing there. He guessed they must have been listening to him play. 

“Hey there darling.” He said finally, he had to force himself to save the pickup lines until later. The pet name was good enough...for now.

When It Rains, It Pours

Nepeta had been in town for awhile after school. The skies had been dark all day but the weather channel had said it wouldn't rain til later tonight so she'd neglected to bring an umbrella. She'd bought some art supplies, a new sketchbook, a rental DVD, and a box of sweets from Derse. She was walking back to the dorms when the first few rain drops hit. She figured she could make it back to the dorms before the rain really hit if she hurried. 

She was wrong. Halfway home the rain hit hard. The kind of rain that comes down in buckets. She to duck into a bus stop for shelter. She was soaked right down the the underwear. Which sucked because she liked this outfit. A short black skirt with a flower pattern matched with a white tank-top and jean jacket. It didn't help that her bra was now see through through the white shirt. She sighed and buttoned up the jean jacket and took a seat wringing out her hair. 

She might as well wait here until the rain let out. She couldn't risk getting her stuff wet. She leaned back of the bus shelter. It was cold and she was wet. Nepeta did not like being wet. Not one bit. The dorms were another half mile down the road. Nepeta folded her arms, unhappily. 

Suddenly Someone ducked into the bus stop with her. She looked up at them and blinked. They didn't seem to notice her as she looked up at them, "It's really pouring huh," She said, "Looks like we're stuck here for a while unless you're gonna power through." She offered them a small smile, even though she was still soaked.

Lost and found

It was a tragedy. No it was an outrage! Nepeta had no idea what had happened. She’d only gone to the bathroom and here she was now. Dumbfounded. What was a simple cat girl such as herself to do? She was about to throw down her sketch pad in frustration, before she decided that would be a bit melodramatic. Besides, the sketch pad hadn’t done anything wrong.

Nepeta had been out by the beach. Of course she didn’t care to much for water. When she was little she’d fallen into her friend’s pool and nearly drowned. She’d been afraid ever since. But she still enjoyed the veiw. So she’d sit and draw sometimes, take a few pictures and text her friends. She’d taken off her knitted blue cat hat to sit on, because she hated the feeling of sand. She’d spent hours sketching the lake. Until finally she she couldn’t stand it anymore. She really had to pee. She’d taken her sketches and pencils with her but had foolishly left her hat behind.

She’d gone to the bathroom and decided it was time to head in. She’d made it all the way to the dorm before she’d reached up to pull her hat down -a habit of hers- and realized she’d lost her precious kitty hat. Immitally she made her was hastily back to the beach. It was getting dark out and she didn’t want to break curfew if she didn’t have to. She’d done it a few times and gotten away with it by crawling in through the window, but still. She’d finally made it back to the patch of sand in front of a big pine tree she’d been sitting at.

But the hat had been no where to be seen. Which leads us all the way back to our current situation. Of course nepeta’s first thoughts were someone stole it. And why wouldn’t they? Her hat was the cutest thing in the world. But she forced herself to calm down. It could have blown away, or an animal might have gotten to it, or someone might have accidentally kicked it down the beach. So she began to look.

She had her eyes trained down, searching the whole beach. Squinting in the dark. She could hardly see a thing, so it wasn’t surprising when she bumped right into someone. She slinked back, her foot catching on a rock and taking a small stumble to the ground with a small, “oof!” She rubbed her ass cause, holy crap that had hurt. She looked up to meet the stranger’s eyes. “Hi! Um, sorry about that…” she said awckwardly, although she wasn’t really sure why she was apologizing if she was the one who was knocked down.
