How do you write a cover letter for a job you actually want and care about

I can write bullshit but I can't bullshit out non-bullshit! About stuff i care about! Aah!

#i have been tossed a job listing by a guy who I know thinks I'm cool and qualified despite knowing that most of my qualifications are #self taught and not on paper. Which is insane and I'm trying really hard to pull shit together to make a legit application #But that also means making some kind of coherent cover letter and resume out of the fact that I've been dicking around self-teaching #myself ecology for like 5 years?#aaah??#Literally this is a grant funded position and the guy who sent it to me is also the person who wrote the grant and the job description #which makes this an EXTREME outlier in terms of jobs I could possibly actually get relative to what kinds of qualifications i have on paper #and I really want to jump and grab this but also aaaa?? Aaaaaaa?????
