This is it, he thought. This is what it means to be happy. A job that does more than just paying the rent. A family. And a cup of the best-made hot chocolate he had ever tasted, made by the man he loved the most. Phoenix could perfectly imagine how he made that for himself and his younger sibling – and now he had made it for him. The thought made Phoenix purr like a cat.
Working as an attorney can be exhausting sometimes, but it could be worse: after all, Phoenix is happily married with his beloved ex-adversary in court, and what better place to rant about today's trial than at home, with a steaming cup of hot chocolate in his hands?

"Darling? I'm home!", Phoenix announced. The first one to greet him was the dog, wagging his tail excitedly. He bent down to scratch him behind his velvety ears. Flinch barked once, happy to have now both of his favourite people back in his territory and available for affection.
Something shuffled in the kitchen, and the other respective favourite person stuck his head through the doorframe.
"Hello, darling. How's your day been?"
Phoenix sighed, throwing his jacket idly through the open bedroom door, where it landed on the bed. He knew he might get a reprimand for that later on, but then again, they both knew that he'd never stop being at least a little messy.
He slipped his shoes off and padded on socks into the kitchen, where he stopped for a short kiss and then settled on his favourite chair. Flinch trotted behind him and curled up underneath said chair, his deep sigh a sign of content.
"I won the trial," Phoenix said, taking the offered cup of endearingly smelling hot chocolate. His favourite, better than any tea or coffee could ever be. His husband smiled proudly, before returning to the counter to pick up his own cup.
