When you're touchy but also very picky about who you touch, but also haven't really learned how to say no because you're practically a newborn artificial being.
This is kind of a direct follow-up to this.

Aalis' pronouns are he/him/they/them. Those aren't typos.
I wish the clothing in MW wasn't gender locked. I was manifesting Autumn Veins with this comic, but it still didn't drop. ToT
This was a great comic practice. I haven't drawn this much in years that wasn't work-related. <3
I have like, five more Manekin comics in the works. But that's for after the holidays. lol

Touchstarved Manekin; Not in romantic or sensual way. More like an abandoned kitten experiencing care and affection for the first time, & will proceed to follow you everywhere. I still can't draw Aether...
Headcanons for Manekin:
Named "Aalis." Octavia named after another book character, that also had adventures in a Wonderland.
They're like a chameleon. Can change their looks at will to adapt to any setting.
Sumeru was the first place the Traveler and Paimon took them to.
There's actually no separation between Manekin and Manekina. It's all just a matter of what form or dress they take on at a time. (Is that an excuse to draw them in the Manekina's outfits too? YES. IT IS.) That's why they can't be in the same party.
Direct reupload from my Twitter account. So sorry if the quality decreased.

Trying out new coloring techniques. Wanted to make him shiny and prettiful. Not super happy with it, but it's nice to get to fully color something again.
I actually made edits to the final piece again after uploading it originally, so I shared my step-by-step too. Sometimes I prefer the inbetween steps, but its still nice to see something fully finished.
Trying to figure out how to draw my new son.
u know what ive decided to focus on aalis

touched up this scene recently, added a few lines that gave it some extra punch
“I mean it, Aalis. I can’t… I’m done. Dante was enough heartbreak for a lifetime, and my life has been very long. I can’t.” How many years had it been since he’d said that name out loud? Too many. Not enough. He swallowed hard. Aalis didn’t say anything for a long time. Eventually, she said, “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have— I didn’t even stay long enough for the funeral.” That damn near broke his heart. She shouldn’t have to expect to carry the weight of his grief too. That was his guilt to bear. “You were going through enough. And you don’t need to hold my hand. Humans die.” The words burned coming out, and they landed with more weight than he intended. The silence stretched. And stretched. Cadoc didn’t know how to break it. This was the sort of thing he’d always outsourced, especially to Dante— But Dante was dead. Cadoc was on his own. Likely he would only make this worse. So he didn’t bother to try.

Adding more descriptions is what im working on this draft so I don't have many mentions of clothes yet, but I do love how the house clearly adores Alice sm
Alice slept for 12 hours after that whole… ordeal was an unfair description. But it wasn’t inaccurate either. At least they had some peace and quiet. The house had delivered breakfast in the form of oats with freshly sliced apples. Whatever spices had been used were unfamiliar to Alice, outside of the obvious cinnamon and brown sugar. Nostalgia radiated from Aalis, but she didn’t have any explanations for Alice. She was sleepily content enough she didn’t even complain that the house got Alice a mug of her favorite tea instead of the coffee they all knew Aalis preferred. On top of having breakfast ready when they were awake, the house had Alice’s meds ready to drop on the bed. She didn’t even have to get up. It only started to feel a little like pampering when a soft lavender sweater, dark jeans, and a new pair of boots appeared at the foot of the bed for her. There was even a matching cane etched with delicate vines and birds on the pastel purple metal. It’s no effort for the house to make sure you’re taken care of, Aalis promised. There was a touch of smugness to her tone anyway. You up for an adventure? I want to show you something, and it’ll get us away from Sir Broods A Lot and his chicken for the morning.
Been a while since I drew Aalis~
