August 23rd through August 25th……. the crew filmed on the beaches of the secluded Treasure Cay Resort. At night, Aaliyah and her senior staff stayed in luxurious $325-a-day two-bedroom villas, elevated above the khaki-colored sands on pedestals. At around 8 the morning of Aug. 25, Aaliyah and eight dancers set sail aboard Fat Cat, a 74½-ft. private yacht. As they cruised back and forth between the towns of Marsh Harbour and Hopetown, they repeated their dance routine some 30 times while cameras on several boats and a helicopter filmed. “As tired as she was, Aaliyah was always goofing around, joking and smiling,” says makeup artist Stacey Mossop. — People Magazine Sept. 2001 Issue

The following was posted on Aaliyah Online's Fan Encounter section. This was shared by the AO member HotLikF sharing her own fan encounter with Aaliyah on that day. The images are courtesy of Aaliyah.PL; I used these images because it was the same event and I wanted to give you {the reader} a visual of some of the fan photos from that night. ...

Well... here it is, my encounter of when I met Aaliyah. It was August 25, 1995 at a party for Vibe magazine held at the Marriott Marquis in NYC. I was walking through the hordes of people when I saw her. She was wearing a white Nike football jersey with a yellow & blue stripe on the sleeve, the number 18 on front, back and on the shoulder, she had on blue windbreaker pants and a pair of Nikes. Her hair was down of course away from her face, she had her sunglasses on top of her head, she also had on this big Pepe La Pew silver medallion. So I went over to her and I said, "Sorry to bother you but can I get your autograph and would you mind taking a picture with me?" She said, "No, no problem." I handed her my paper and while she was signing it and I told her I love you, I love your music, and I think you are so pretty. She looked up and smiled and said thank you. That's when I noticed that she had dimples. She handed me the autograph and I said, "Oh my God...I don't believe this. Thank you so much!" She laughed and said you're welcome. Then she asked me what my name was but I never told her my name because when she signed my paper she just signed it, "Peace Always, Aaliyah" so I told her my name. She said, "Well nice to meet you." Aaliyah gave me a hug and then asked, "Did you meet my brother Rashad?" I told her no then she called him over and introduced us she said, "Rashad this is Shermaine, Shermaine this is Rashad." I told him, "Nice to meet you," then I shook hands with him, then we were standing there enjoying the music and then she asked, "Are you enjoying the party?" I said, "Yeah I'm having a great time." Then I took out my camera for us to take the picture but I didn't have anyone with me to take the picture so I said to Aaliyah, "Oh I don't have anyone to take the picture, I'll be right back." She said, "No (I can't remember his name but he was their bodyguard or chaperone) I'll get I think Tony to take the picture (She knew his name but I can't remember it)." Anyway she called the Tony over and asked him if he could take a picture of us, so he said sure. She said, "Tony this is Shermaine, Shermaine this is Tony." I shook his hand too and he was a big guy He took the picture and I told Aaliyah thank you and she said you're welcome. I gave her another hug then she said, "Enjoy the rest of the party." I said, "Thanks, you too. And that's my story...another thing to all the people who claim that she can't sing live. Let me tell you, we were watching the Late Great Notorious B.I.G. perform and I was standing right behind Aaliyah. Biggie was doing one more chance and Aaliyah was singing along with the song, but she was goofing off with her brother, acting silly and singing silly. She would sing in a high and then a low voice pretending that she had a mic in her hand and she still sounded good. They were just laughing having a good time and I was right behind them laughing. Anyway she started singing in her regular voice and sounded even better. But she was sooo nice & pleasant every time so if anyone approached her, she wouldn't brush them off like a lot of celebrities were doing that night. She would take pictures chat for a few minutes just real cool and she wasn't acting like it was all about her. Real down to earth, so if anyone has anything bad to say about her, I will defend her because I got to meet her and she is a real gem. She truly is.

In the comments he notes that Aaliyah's brother Rashad was the one who snapped the photo. Thank you so much for sharing! Let me be at work one day and see my favorite artist walking by!! LOL I’d do the same thing he did! Special shout out to Dottie Hauser for bringing this to my attention on my Aaliyah Unleashed facebook page.
