Wishing I was here, but this place no longer exists
Treasure Cay, Bahamas
August 23rd through August 25th……. the crew filmed on the beaches of the secluded Treasure Cay Resort. At night, Aaliyah and her senior staff stayed in luxurious $325-a-day two-bedroom villas, elevated above the khaki-colored sands on pedestals. At around 8 the morning of Aug. 25, Aaliyah and eight dancers set sail aboard Fat Cat, a 74½-ft. private yacht. As they cruised back and forth between the towns of Marsh Harbour and Hopetown, they repeated their dance routine some 30 times while cameras on several boats and a helicopter filmed. “As tired as she was, Aaliyah was always goofing around, joking and smiling,” says makeup artist Stacey Mossop. — People Magazine Sept. 2001 Issue {Images Credit: Aaliyah.pl}
Treasure Cay Bahamas
I wanna go back
To anyone wondering.
This is the beautiful Resort R&B singer Aaliyah stayed at while in Bahamas before her death August 25th 2001: She stayed at Marsh Harbour (Treasure Cay). The Treasure House Villa matches the BET Access Granted footage. {Details of Resort credit: Aaliyah Always Tumblr}.
"She had money, but it didn't spoil her," said Annie Russell, a taxi driver who coordinated the local crew for the production. "She acted as if she knew you for a long time. She was a nice person." About three hours after the crew began its work, one of Russell's taxi drivers, Lowell Edgecombe, waited outside the Treasure Cay Resort to take Aaliyah, her bodyguard, Scott Gallin, and a handful of others to the Fat Cat. Intensely protective.
"She was calm," he recalled of the rising young star. "They were the calmest set of people I ever seen." But in Gallin, calm was mixed with intensity, and an overarching protectiveness for his charge. "Her bodyguard was very strict about anybody even getting close to them," Edgecombe said. "He sat next to me and didn't say one word to me."
