By contrast to his angel baby contemporary, Jako, this little brat, Aapep, is flighty, temperamental, messy, and rude. He only held still for this photo because he was surreptitiously poo'ing on my crocheted blanket.

hynpos myth event ( ᵈᵃʸ ᶠᵒᵘʳ / favourite egyptian myth creature )
Aapep, the cosmic serpent spirit of evil, darkness and destruction. Also known as the Encircler of the World and the Serpent of Rebirth - all alluding to its immortality, the undefeatable creature that embodied the evil of the land. Throughout his battles with Ra, there were times when the serpent would successfully hurt the god of sky, and thus an eclipse was the result upon the world.
I got this beautiful piece of three of my babies commissions earlier. The drawing came in today, and I am SO EXCITED!!!
I know I don’t post much about Aapep (One in Green), Lisha (The female), and Mackenzie (The angel*) but they are all part of a book I am working on and Plan on publishing. ^^ I LOVE these three.

#Aapep Aapep is a cosmic serpent from ancient Egypt. Aapep is the manifestation of chaos and darkness. During the New Kingdom, stories where told of the battles Aapep had with the Egyptian god of the sky, Ra. The snake used his hypnotic gaze to captivate Ra and then attack him with the Demons, Sek and Mot. The defeat of Aapep was assisted by the prayers of priests. The monster was finally killed by the god Aten or in some tales, by the cat goddess Bast.

The story of Aapep
It was just starting to get dark; the sun was setting on the pyramids and desert sand dunes. Akefia slowly walked through the sand. It had only been a month since he had left his village covered in blood and bodies. He was struggling to survive, and wasn't even sure if he really wanted to.
He finally just fell down to lay in the sand. It wasn't like he was going to find some place better for the night. He closed his eyes and just laid there, happy that, for once, the image of the corpses wasn't waiting for him behind his lids.
After a little while, hissing reached his ears, and he opened his eyes and looked to the side at the shifting sand. About a foot away from him, it stopped, and, after a pause, a white, triangular head popped up out of the sand. Bright red eyes, similar to his own, stared curiously at him. The snake hissed loudly at him, baring its fangs, venom glinting in the dimmed light.
He didn't move, just continued to stare at it.
The snake stared right back at him for a moment. Then, it slithered closer. When he still didn't react, other than follow its movements with his eyes, the snake climbed up onto his chest. It never took its eyes off of him. He could see the curiosity in its eyes. Here was a very deadly snake coming up to him, and he didn't even react.
The snake eventually coiled up on top of him, and Akefia closed his eyes.

Several weeks after that, the snake was still with him. At first, it had just followed him, but he eventually let it ride on his shoulders. He liked the company. He didn't feel so alone with the snake with him.
"If you are going to stay with me, I suppose you need a name," he said one night, looking down at the white snake that was basking in front of the fire he had managed to create. The snake looked up at him. "Mine's Akefia. Have I told you that? Akefia Bakura."
The snake's tongue flicked out, and it slithered up to rest on his shoulders again. Its scales glinted in the fire light, looking much like the color of the moon.
"Moon snake ... yes, that's what I'll name you. Aapep!"
The newly named Aapep hissed softly, nuzzling his neck in affection.
